What is the correct dial for this reference? And date wheel color? There is no picture in the online Omega database.

These both look to be correct dials, perhaps one was first release (with triangle and no depth in ft).

#1 - No triangle with white wheel

#2 - No triangle with black wheel

I'm also finding dials with the triangle and the depth in feet. So three different dials I am seeing.

As I dive into this, dials #1 and #2 look to be the same as a SHOM.

In any case I am looking to purchase one of these, but just not sure about what dial and color of date wheel.

Anyone able to confirm dial #1/#2 are accurate to the 166.091 reference?

    No thoughts on this?

I have concluded #1 does not have the correct dial for the reference.

I see one listed in the sales section, yet it has a completely different dial....

Looking to pick one up in the $1150-1250 range, but would need service.

Not much data, does this price seem reasonable for vintage in good shape?

    Hi Taddyangle,

I to really like this model and have seen many examples around at various prices depending on the condition many have really bad cases that are of course not to difficult to get refinished but will involve costs. Its harder to find good examples with good dials, hands and bezels and as most with tell you the dial is probably the most important part. On the question of the dials the Triangle version with just the Seamaster 200 is to the best of knowledge the original dial as fitted to this model the dials without the Triangle appear to be later service dials not sure about the dials with triangles and depth rating as personally haven't seen any of those. The original bezel will have the very distinctive 3 dots under the 10 and 20 marks and 2 dots under the 30 and be very hard to replace never mind find a NOS one. As to the date wheel I have only seen white dates up to now but like the Seamaster 300 this may of been an option or something that was changed at service I really don't know if the black date wheel is correct or not and would be an easy fix if wrong.

If you manage to find one in your price range I would imagine it would be in need of far more than just a service as most in reasonable condition that I have seen have been around the $1450 and up price range in fact nice examples I have seen are usually much more than that and even at that price most would need at least a service and some work on them. Good luck with your hunt and be careful and take your time don't rush into anything.

    Marc

    Marc,

Thank you. The one I'm looking at is a service dial. I do like the look of this watch, so if the price is in my range ($1150-1250) I will make the purchase.

    Thanks again.

I did find one, and for under my budget. It should be in my possession in the next 7-10 days.

Once I get it I will post some pics.

I need some help with evaluating options. I did get the watch today and overall I am happy with it, but it needs work.

One thing that was odd for me that there is no lume on the the hands or the dial. Or at least there is no glow at all. The bezel, which I can't say is original or not does lume, and it is the acrylic vs the metal insert that comes on the new bezels.

I plan to get this serviced and have a new crystal added.

    The two options:

    1. swap the hands to new ones that are true to the case/reference (I have these already)

    2. swap the hands that are on my SHOM (Ploprof hands)

Since this is not the original dial (and a service dial) I am not too worried about keeping it authentic. I like the look and am pushing towards #2 because I think the SHOM might look better with original hands and not the plopfof hands.

    Any ideas or comments?

Finally finished my project watch. Big thanks to @Archer for sourcing me the dial.

I picked this one up from a guy in New Zealand last year. It had an incorrect second hand, spots on dial, scratch crystal and was in need of a service.

I had it serviced locally in San Diego, bought a dial from Al, and used the all new hands I had from another project. The case was in good shape, so nothing done to case, and same with bezel.

    I like the leather, but also have a bracelet. IMG_20150508_175913~2.jpg IMG_20150508_175946~2.jpg IMG_20150508_175902~2.jpg IMG_20150508_175756~2.jpg

Thanks for keeping the thread alive. Sounds like a good adventure and a good outcome. Watch looks great!

I always think of divers on mesh, but looks good with the leather in your pics.
