Is the Omega Seamaster 200m "Banana Dial" a must have in anyone's Omega collection?

    That's a beauty. What's a fair price for a watch like yours?

They are not up for sale that often, but if you can, try to find one with a good bezel. The ones that are up for sale are quite expensive. I was lucky enough to buy one from a memeber here after I put a thread up about looking for one and it was sold to me for a very fair price. In fact it is in the post as we speak. I won t be home until the arse end of this year, and cannot wait to see it in the flesh along with the other watches I have bought this year.

Looks as though you've posted the same question twice.

I have the Poppy dialed version of the 166.068, I will some day have a Banana dialed version as well. I think it's a great looking watch, but it's not for everyone. I personally love the pop of color

In terms of a "Must have" - I can think of at least 6-10 other Omega models that I would place higher on the must have list. But yes I would say it's a must have in any significant Omega Collection

Sorry, but I don't think one of those would be high on many peoples must have Omega watches list.

I doubt there are many watches that come under the "must have" category. As has been mentioned many times, its all down to personal taste. Out of interest I wonder what would be on the top ten list apart from the speedmaster and the piepan. Perhaps the forum could do a vote on it just for fun.

    I agree - it's totally subjective. I personally wouldn't include the piepan.

About £1500 would be my guess.

The piepan seems to be a popular choice for many people judging on the amount of mentions it gets on this forum. Not my cup of tea either, but neither is the speedmaster, but I would guess that they would end up on a top ten list of collectables across the forum

Sorry about that. I mistakenly posted it on Omega Review but I don't know how to delete it when I realized it was the wrong forum.

Put this on today, after far to long in the watch box. Remembered this post and thought I'd add a few pictures. Watch is all original including the bracelet. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Here is mine. I read that the early ones have the 200 underneath seamaster and the later ones did not. Having seen mostly pictures of this model with 200 and nearly all of them in spotless condition I wonder if this is correct. I also saw one with 120 underneath seamaster too. I just love this watch and am looking forward to wearing it again when I get home from holiday.

The ones I have seen for sale either have worn bezels or the dial is aging like mine, I think it is possibe to get service dials for these but the bezel is not available, so go for one with a good bezel and don t worry so much if the dial has some signes of aging. I love mine just the way it is and will be leaving it as is.
They don't come along that often so if you see one you like, don thesitate to snap it up.

Like real bananas these dials do have a habit of degrading with the yellow part turning blackish, @lillatroll's example is still quite nice, some of the dials the yellow turns almost grey.
