Dear all. I am hereby selling a serviced, stainless steel Omega Seamaster ref. 166.032 from around 1968. I bought the watch a few years ago, never really got to use it, but have now had it serviced at an Omega trained watchmaker and put it up for sale. The 36mm steel Seamaster case retains its bold facets and sunburst finish on the bezel, though some brushing has been lost to time and a polish or two. The lug width is 19mm. There are a few nicks on the case, worst of which I have tried to capture in the below picture; note that it is one the 11 o'clock lug, so not readily visible. The crown is the original item and the dial is free from serious degradation. The minute hand has lost a tiny bit of luminescent material. The calendar is in Finnish which you will either find very useful, good fun or terribly annoying The cal. 752 movement was serviced August 2020 and runs beautifully within +4 seconds a day for the five days I wore it earlier this month. I am asking €620 for this great Omega Seamaster, tracked shipping included to anywhere in the world. I will be happy to take returns within a week after you receiving the watch. Too bad iam out of cash right now focusing on other targets This will not last for long in the FS section! GLWS!!!
I lost a @ConElPueblo for sale announcement. That'll teach me to work instead of check up the sales section. Shame on me. Congrats to buyer and seller
Thanks. I promise to study a bit of Finnish to make sense of the day disc. Edit: It's set to Saturday in the pictures, I'm being told - Lauantai. Might have to do an "educational week" in the WRUW with this thing.
And it continues to amaze me how other sellers refuse to learn a lesson from sales like this. They put their watch up at an inflated price, demand wire payment or "net to me," bump the listing 17 times (often dropping the price to well below what PayPal fees would have cost them), and seem perplexed when their watch hasn't sold in four months.
Not that I sell so often, but I’m a great fan of the « net to me » specification. Once you’ve had a currency exchange mishap on Paypal because you’ve been nice, you learn the lesson.
Same goes with newer members, who farmed their posts and now can't sell the same watches that were reason they joined here. KARMA
I totally agree, it saves a lot of...hmm, how shall I call it,..'miscommunication' with buyers who often want discount+free insured postage+ PayPal/Bank payment in their own currency with all costs at my end+etc, etc. A simple 'Net to me' in my listings removes all need for those kinds of unpleasant discussions and I'll offset that by including world wide shipping in my price. For the majority of us in the Private Sales Forum this is just a hobby and I can't be arsed dealing with tight buyers trying to wring me dry when I'm selling.
My, my, my... Didn't this turn into a debate club? Re. payment, normally I state that I will like bank transfer, but that PP can be arranged. This saves me from the "net to me" I guess. It hasn't got to do with the 2% fee, but more that PPs exchange rates are poor and they charge for transferring to my bank account. I would need to jack up my asking price by a considerable amount in order to compensate. This last week I've received money via transferwise which was a very good experience. I am happy that this one sold quickly and will end up with someone that appreciates it.
Ehdottomasti! (Apparently, that's finnish for "absolutely!" ) Our transaction was a little easier, as our countries share the same currency and there are no customs involved. But in general I was wondering about the negative perception of "net to me". Not being a native speaker I figured it might have a negative ring to it that I simply didnt grasp, but the idea behind it is just practical. This is a very international hobby, there are many currencies and conversion fees involves, shipping cost depends hugely on the destination, of course - why not simply state what you'd like to receive at your end as a seller. Also, I never understood "net to me" as "no negotiations whatsoever", or is that implied?
For me 'Net to me' simply means whatever price we end up at (after potential negotiations) is the price I want cleared in my bank account.
The salient take away from an ad like this is the general "tone". It is friendly rather than too formal while still able to get all the pertinent info across. I immediately skip past any ad that reads like an impersonal legal document. Oh, and of course the price is friendly as well.
May I also add, having the price in the thread title (as I have notice CEP is one of few members who do this) is incredibly thoughtful. I can immediately tell if I want to open the thread if the price is alluring (I have seen a few that when I saw the price I felt like the time it took to read was a total waste- no chance in hell, buddy). How often have we excitedly opened a FS post and scrolled down 5 pages of text, 6 more pages of pictures, and still can’t find the price!
You’re not alone, we’ve had discussions about this in a past thread and suggested the price in the title line as a welcome alternative to the people who write lenthy legal-tone missives and only put their asking price at the very end.
Or worse- buried somewhere in the magnum opus! I have actually had to reread several times to find prices- at least bold it or something!
