Hello everyone! Thank in advance for the help. I saw on eBay an Omega Seamaster 166.0214 Cal 1012 and I really want to buy it, but I am unsure if it is real or not. Could someone advise on the authenticity? Thanks so much again!
Cost will depend on who does the work and what parts are needed. If the seller is making a claim of "recent service" I would take that with a large grain of salt unless they can produce some proof of that. So not just their word, but a receipt from a know service provider with a good reputation. I get a lot of "freshly serviced" watches that haven't been opened in decades... Cheers, Al
The good thing is that it does appear to be real! Thats good! I think i might pull the trigger, but those servicing costs do scare me a bit. What do you guys think in terms of the condition? Is it fair for its age?
The dial has been refinished. The condition otherwise isn't that brilliant, loads of rather deep scratches and the case back looks as if someone has used a can opener to get it opened. Lots of other, better, examples out there - this one will still be an also-ran after a service.
Id rather find one that is in better condition, but I cant seem to find any at the moment. I just love the Genta inspired designed. Very 70s, and I think its very very cool.
Well, it would be much cheaper to find a vintage Seiko with the same case/bracelet set-up, I've seen 100s of them
Sorry, haven't got one. I was just amazed by the similarities between that Seamaster and the Seiko 5s I see loads of on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-S...643791?hash=item3d213ce44f:g:fx0AAOSwtnpXmmLuPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Pretty sure there's a bracelet looking like the one in the OP as well... (I realise this isn't a very nice example, it was the first that popped up in my "Seiko 5" search on eBay )
