I recently purchased this watch from the owner’s daughter (his name is inscribed in the watch and I have his military picture with his name) and I have a few questions as I am not an expert as everything on the watch is 1966 and then the serial is 28m which seems to be 1969.

*the serial is 28m - I suppose it’s a 1969
*The band and end links are 1506/16 - 1964-1966
*Pencil hands - these don’t match 1969 but the patina is consistent with watch and it has been in a safe for over 20 years.
*1966 bold font bezel with wide triangle
*movement 550 which I assume means it’s not 552 for import reasons
*attached some pictures if anyone has any feedback or valuation idea.
thank you

Thank you for the post. I enjoyed seeing it because it looks very similar to the one I was given on my 21st birthday in 1967. Unfortunately I can't help you with the details because after wearing it for over twenty years I gave it to one of my sons, from whom it was stolen (one of his ratbag 'friends' at the time).

It is a nice example - regardless of any variations that might have occurred from servicing, it has its own history. Enjoy it!

thank you for your kind post. My high school graduation present 15 years ago was a tag Heuer I wanted since I was 12 years old and it was stolen my freshman year of college. Won’t ever forget that! Made me extra careful now with my vintage pieces.

The watch looks great - my guess would be that the movement was replaced at a later date

All looks good to me for a early 165024, except for the movement serial number that is way too late for everything else on the watch. It might have been replaced in a service some time in its life, and i see the rotor is probably also not original to the movement. Other than that, dial, bezel, case, hands, all look good for a trapezoid and candlestick handed HF case 1965-1966 SM300 with push in crown. The difference in the color of the hands and dial is normal, so i would go with fully original in my opinion base on those quite bad pictures to assess from.
