i have owned this watch for the last 20 years but it has now stopped working. Took it for inspection and told there is a problem with the balance spring and rotor for self wind. I know it needs a good overhaul, does anyone have a realistic idea of cost and where in the UK i could get it done by someone reputable please, many thanks, oh and do you think it is worth getting done

Yes, definitely worth getting it fixed up. I'd wait for some of the UK based members to chime in with watchmaker recommendations.

WatchGuy.co.uk and Mitka.co.uk are good independents.

Swiss Time Services and Simon Freese Watchmakers are highly recommended authorised service centres.

Definitely worth fixing - I will suggest you give Chris Nichols a call or send him a mail. Very competent and is a member here under the name @ChrisN .

He has done some excellent work for me.

Great watch!
Please get it fixed 😀
Don't let them change the hands/dial or polish the case
