Hello,
One of your members advised me to contact you about this model I own.
I'm looking for historical information and appraisals, and as your very active community has specialists, I'd like to ask you about this exceptional watch.

Here it is for the discerning amateurs and collectors:
Omega Seamaster "The Grand"
A watch specially developed for the COMEX, which Jacques Yves Cousteau used for his dives.
An ultra-rare and unusual model.

I'm very interested to know its historical and market value among collectors.

Here's a link to a site that traces the history of this model.

A huge thank you to its creator, who has done a fantastic job.

According to his descriptions, this model has all the aspects of an original timepiece.
The case body bears the no. 5-220
Reference 166.093
according to a contributor.
This is certainly a highly sought-after original prototype.
To be confirmed when opening its case body in order to know the caliber.

Thanks also to all contributors to the
Vente/Echange ou Rachat montre Suisse et Vintage
and
Horlogerie Vintage Passion
who helped me in my research.

I'm waiting for a reply from COMEX regarding the historical interest and its history.
I also contacted Omega.

Unfortunately, at the moment I have no way of opening its case to identify its movement.
Could someone experienced and trustworthy help me open it?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Have a nice day.

Definitely get a trusted watchmaker to open it, not worth risking damage to it without the right tools, cool piece!

Your watch looks fully original. The case looks pristine, and the dial show the typical degradation of Omega dark blue dials used in seamaster 600 and 1000. By looking at the condition of the case I would assume this watch has never seen the water or even been used.
In order to open it you shall remove the bezel and then unscrew the threaded ring which lock the glass. In order to execute this you will need a suitable tool. I opened a couple of sm1000, it is not an hard task, but if you are not confident it would be better to make it done by an experienced watchmaker.

I don't know how practical these are for daily wear, but I hope to find out someday...

Just a quirky watch, but super-cool at the same time. Even non-watch people are going to notice THIS on your wrist.
