·Another day, another patinated 50s Seamaster looking for a new owner.
Or I could pretend to be an overly ambitious dealer and call it a spectacular crème brûlée-style waffle dial, framed by shiny cake shovel indices, with a set of beautifully aged dauphine hands that elegantly, yet relentlessly spin their way around the dial. 😁
But really, this is just a pretty cool, visually very aged watch with a structured dial that had a full service give it a new life.
The Watch
Omega Seamaster
Reference: 2846
Movement: cal. 501 automatic
Serial: 15766555
Year: 1957
Case: 34,5mm stainless steel, fat lugs
Dial: two-tone waffle structure, heavily patinated. SS furniture, applied Omega logo.
Strap: Currently on a used, brown leather strap. New, black leather strap is a (free) option
Condition
Dial & Hands: Original dial, heavy patina all around. All the writing is there, including the Swiss Made, see close-ups. Indices are in good shape and sparkle in the sun, hands show heavy degradation.
Case: Original 34,5mm stainless steel case in ok condition. Nicks all around, looks consistent with the dial. I’m not one for polishing so I’ve left it alone. Caseback shows some pitting, likely from a NATO-strap, Seamaster and Waterproof writings are fully intact though.
Crown: Original, new Omega crown which is correct for the ref. Omega-logo on the crown clearly visible.
Crystal: Original, new Omega crystal.
Movement: Original cal. 501 automatic in clean condition, serviced this month. The receipt for the service will of course be sent along with the watch. Accordingly, it sets, winds and runs great
Strap: Used, dark brown strap as seen in the pictures. If you like I’d be happy to include a brand-new, black calf leather strap, too
