Hands are incorrect, way to short.

    I'd pass on this one.

The hands sure seem short -- they don't even come close to the minute track. That's all I got though -- like you, I will await the experts.

(EDIT: I type way too slow :D)

The hands on hummers are all pretty uniform and are all short, they are probably quite correct. That watch looks Ok but isn't in fantastic condition and IMO isn't one of the more interesting models, possibly a 198.0044.

See one of mine for what I mean about the hands:

Oh forgot to say, since the OP one is a date only model (using the 1250 movement), there is a very good chance that it will have an issue with the date advancing correctly at some point in the month. The date wheels are plastic on these and become brittle and lose teeth during the 45 years or so since they were made. It isn't a cheap fix if this is the case and you may have to live with it and advance it yourself once or more a month.

Care to share where from? Paul (whose website that is you quoted) charges ~ £80/$110 plus fitting for a remanufactured metal replacement date wheel (I don't think he will supply without fitment), I would be very interested to hear of a cheaper alternative.

Well originally I posted here saying that I doubt very much whether WC would have one, and how I had never seen a datewheel on eBay but I thought I would check and found one! And promptly bought it so I guess you are right and they can be got.

Yes they are rare but can be found with patience. Thinking about making them on my own out of brass. But still have to find a solution to print them in a good and not to expensive way.

    Hummers are fun.

But if you keep it close to your bed at night, the sound will make you go mad. Even to this day i hear a faint humming inside my head. I sold my hummer 4 years ago.
