Looks like a good call, everything now hinges on the rear foot positions...

I have just noticed three additional numbers stamped into the steel outer ring below the 6 o'clock on the dial.
2 6 2
What do these mean/refer to I wonder...?

On the rim of the dial ? I haven’t noticed that before. Picture if possible.

From what I know, these numbers (matching numbers) are found on the different parts of the watch cases.
This depends on the watch case company.
These numbers are not usually found on Omega cases.

As for the red twelve, it’s a question of taste.
Red , black or blue are from the same era.

Thanks for that @pilotswatch, makes perfect sense and I think you are spot on..
In my original post I wrote, inter alia: The Dennison Watchcase Co Ltd marked case appears to be 9ct gold with indented markings: 9, an anchor, the letter E, the letters ALD and the serial number 447262.
So the last three digits of the Dennison case serial number correspond to the the 262 on that outer ring !
At least that tells me the component parts are all original, so good news !

As for that red twelve, glad to hear its period specific and correct, so I either go down that route or have my original professionally refurbished.
Hmmmm ???

Okay so I went over to see my octogenarian watch wizard this morning who whipped off the dial with extraordinary dexterity and speed to reveal the following images. Of note is the position of the feet and absence of any numbers. The feet appear to be in the 10 and 5 o'clock positions, the latter much closer to the seconds register centre than the 'red 12' dial alternative previously posted by @pilotswatch, which looks to me slightly closer to the 4 0'clock.
Guess that rules it out, so the hunt is back on !!
He also showed me a couple extracts from Anton Kreuzer's excellent book, showcasing an old black and white sales image of my watch together with further details on Cal:26.5 - see images.
I'm encouraged by the fact that my movement looks very close to original, the crown obviously replaced at some stage and I'd really love to source a replacement if anyone knows where one could be found...?
And, that the case is solid 9ct gold - I wonder what the 1931 price tag would equate to in today's money ??

I thought I might have one …but
As you noticed on the other dial I posted , mine has the same configuration.
You dial feet are positioned differently. Closer to the subdial.

Don't despair one will eventually come up for sell. I’ll keep an eye.

The wait is killing me...there must be one out there someplace surely..???

Hi @pilotswatch
I have messaged the seller of this dial on eBay but no response.
Didn't mention the increased price from $75 to $90 but was keen to know if this red 12 dial is an original and unrestored example from the 1930's and therefore compatible with my watch.
Seems my watchmaker might have a workaround the feet placement however the centre-to-centre of hour/minute hands and seconds register is vital to get right...
So please, if you know of something that might work, including the one you posted above, or how to get a reply from the eBay seller, I'd be much obliged.
All best from a cold, wet and windy Suffolk.
Mike

Thanks very much for that, I'll check it out - seems like the seller is in Europe.
