second purchase this week arrived this morning 1959 Ranchero Cal 267 sub- second I believe it's all original cant stop looking at it, looks stunning on my wrist whats your thought did I get a good one .

I don't know anything about that watch but if it is legit, I like it, particularly the hour markers and the hands. Others more knowledgeable can help identify any issues.

My $127, Ranchero, I bought in 1998 before most people knew what a Ranchero was. I just bought it because I liked the Rolex Explorer style dial. I think this was a few years before Bill Sohne had written his article http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=1021&rid=0 (Don't know why article pictures are not showing up)

Sold to US Army PX Store 01/28/59. Retail in 1959 $110. I added the western motif band since it fit in with the name "Ranchero" and also matches the tan color of the aged lume material.

Thats a great example at a price that has long gone....
For those who can live without the Ranchero on the dial, the same watch (2990) can be had for reasonable money. I picked one up a few months ago for around 250$

I knows there was a 2990 branded as seamaster.. were there unbranded ones as well (to Joe K's point)?

I probably should correct my post - the other 2990 I was referring to are the "Seamaster" branded ones.

 

I've not seen those for $250 though. Crazy watch world.

 

In full disclosure, I did purchase mine off an eBAY listing that had one poor resolution picture. I knew it was a 2990, but it was a gamble. Having said that I have seen a number of other Seamaster 2990 sell over the past several months at prices that were significantly lower than what the equivalent Ranchero typically sells for.
