refinished dial, re-lumed hands from a later model, and an obviously worn movement which may itself have been put together parts from more than one old movement. Even if the movement and serial numbers match - and they may not - it is not a desirable example.

The extra question mark means it is really important.

I just picked up a nice Ranchero 2996-1 that's all original, except for the dial, which of course is the most important part as far as value. I believe the previous owner had this watch for a very long time and when it was time, changed the dial out of necessity.

Does anyone know if Omega offers replacement dials for otherwise genuine Rancheros?
And if not then which (if any) is the most "acceptable".
Would it be this one?

The cold fact is that these fine and undervalued watches are surviving longer than their dials and when they do need redials, what the "most acceptable" way to do that?

Yes, but when the dial looks like this:

Please don't take this as condescending, but you shouldn't really waste time
with this. Unless you can find a real dial, changing fake dials adds nothing.

That is so condescending!....lol...kidding!....I totally agree....once you have a fake dial, it doesn't matter how close you are, a fake dial is a fake dial and it adds/restores no value to the piece. Good luck trying to find an authentic replacement.
I already have an all original 2990, but I wanted to try one with center seconds and thought this redial would be just fine, but now knowing what an original looks like, the redial is bugging me....ignorance WAS bliss, right?

I gotta find me an all original broad arrow 2996 (Center seconds) Ranchero, especially since Omega denied me a Railmaster retro release this year at Baselworld....tsk...tsk....tsk....

Bit of an old thread but, my father recently got two Ranchero's and gave me this one. It does seem a bit different to most you see. Hands Ive seen and the small seconds dial Ive seen but not often both together. I quite like it even though originally I wasn't keen on them. I think they will appreciate as there was just such a short build period. 😀
