As you can see this watch is from somewhere in the fifties. Now I Wonder if Ref 2990-1 Serialnumber 14529058 and with caliber 266 is original. Was this the caliber that was used before what's more common Caliber 267. Please have a look at added photos and make your self an opinion. I would be pleased for an answer from you proffesionals ot there.
Thank you for info and advice. Now I feel like av real amateur. I bought this, not for a very large sum of Money but still you feel you've been ripped off. How about the other parts, exept from the dial?
Case and movement are genuine, but case is over polished. Probably started out as a silver dial Seamaster that hit clapped out and was 'restored' into a 'Ranchero'.
You guys might laugh when I ask but is it possible to find and buy an original dial? And how much would that cost?
It's honestly not worth trying to find a dial for that movement and case when it almost certainly didn't start out as a Rachero. What you have is worth a couple of hundred quid. If you want a real Ranchero you're better just starting from scratch and finding an all original one.
OK! Thank you anyway for your help and Professional answers. I've been studying your old thread "Ranchero redials 101" and I got the picture. Thanks again and good night.
I agree with all the comments. I would add that the movement serial is out of Ranchero range for me. We are here to help. As Dennis used to say, come here Before you buy. It's Shiny though, as Dennis would say-
It was worth giving it a try. Considering provenance, it could have been one of those Rancheros that was Seamasterized. In any case, it is a good reminder that even in freezing Sweden you can get burned.
