Hello All,

Hoping for some advice and opinions on this watch. It belongs to a friend of mine who wants help selling it, and I know nothing about these, and am lazily asking the OF for advice because it’s not my watch. Any info about this one, and a general price range for it would appreciated, or some direction on where I can find more info about these. Haven’t opened this up yet but the case and dial look really sharp. Thanks all! Pics!!!

Ok so I’ve gone through a bunch of photos and can’t find another dial with an arrow like this and with open 6 and 9....I’m guessing that’s bad news for my friend?

The original thin-arrow should have radium in the luminous. Test it with a Geiger at 20-30cm, radium will be picked up, tritium will not.

This bit is interesting... and I know someone who is looking for one of these...

...interested to understand about the 6 and 9.

it is not a soft iron amag dial. it is a later re print on a brass disc without the wells for the luminous. no wells; markers printed on and lume applied, not filled in the wells. kind regards. achim

As Achim pointed out, this is not the original dial. There were service dials that were similar to what is on your friend's watch. These were used by omega for restorations up until the the early 2000s.

Actually looking at it under a loupe it does appear that the hour markers have wells that are filled in with luminous. It is most pronounced on the 3 o’clock marker. I can take some close ups to show this

It’s rather simple to recognize this dial as probably not original. It’s too pristine. A black dial subject to radium lume since 1953 has blemishes/burns/patina. This dial example is too clean.

Ok, just tying to ascertain if it is likely an original dial that has been repainted or a replacement dial. Verdict is the latter then?

At 12 o`clock it shows, that there is no luminous well. the white showing under the lume is painted on. but if you have it in your hand, take it out of the case and see, if there is a clear well; with a fine needle you will feel it. kind regards. achim

US$ 5000 is quite steep for an example with a non soft iron dial. has no longer any AMAG qualities and is worth maybe half that. kind regards. achim
