    hi,
I came back from watchmaker who confirmed that balance in my 2nd omega needs to be replaced. Tried to find details about this balance, but even movement details are difficult to define. Dont see any model signed at the back. Google says this is R17.8. (if possible) can you help me to find more details about balance, pleaase?

one more detail: watchmaker noticed that when watch lies flat - balance does not work, but when I put omega upside down (on the glass) balance moves. Can someone guess possible reason, please? Do i need to find complete balance (staff, wheel and sprint) or just staff needs to be replaces? Where to buy it (part or working movement)?

    any help appreciated.

    Regards,
    Piotr

This eBay seller has two complete balance assemblies for Omega R17.8 at £60 GBP each.

Could be a damaged jewel, damaged staff, too much end shake in balance wheel, too much end shake on pallet fork, rubbing balance spring, etc., etc., etc.

It's impossible to diagnose this 100% without looking at it - that is what your watchmaker should be doing for you, as well as positively identifying the movement. If he can't do it, find another watchmaker.

    Cheers, Al

    Hi,
Thanks guys. After your comments i called watchmaker and he said he took balance off and checked both: balance and jewels. Damaged balance is confirmed.
Thanks for ebay link - I already contacted seller.

    Regards,
    Piort
