    Hello,
I just received a vintage 80's Omega Polaris Seamaster.
I don't have thick wrists and the watch band doesn't fit, making me wonder
if this is a ladies model. Does anybody know how one can verify if it a Men's or Ladies'?
    Many thanks in advance.
    TJ

Maybe include a photo with something to use as a size reference.

Very few polaris ladies were date models, as efauser says a measurement would help. The gents polaris was a very small watch by modern standard with the exception of the chronographs models. The mend dress polaris was small due to the design and fashion of the times, lets not forget it was the 1980's!

Going by the bracelet/case size, I'd say this is the men's version which is, what, 32-33mm?

    So yes, it's a men's watch.

It may be missing the removable links from the bracelet.

Do you know the reference? If it starts, as I suspect, with 3 (probably followed by 96), then it's a gents' watch.

That's the men's version indeed, officially 31.5 mm. I happened to be looking at the German 1988 Omega catalogues earlier today where it is featured : http://www.old-omegas.com/sea88de.html

The 1670/1675 quartz chronos were a larger 37.5mm

The Polaris XL models (German market only I believe) were 39mm (Auto 1120, Ana Digi Cal 1665) and the Chrono might have been 41mm.

Would you know where one could find replacement removable links?

Slightly awed at the prospect of finding and adding links to the strap - may be too difficult to do for a neophyte to all things Omega

They may still be available from Omega, if you call into/call your local boutique, they'll be able to check, and likely fit them on premise. :)

Coincidentally, I've not long wandered back from my local AD where I had a 1/2 link swapped out for a full link on my Polaris Auto Chronometer bracelet :)

If you are interested in the Polaris line, it's one of Omegas less well regarded and oft forgotten designs. A quick look at the database https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage/ will give you some idea of the different models as will a Google image search for Omega Polaris.

There's a wide range of dial and movement types and some interesting multifunction ana-digi models. Unless you go for something like the Auto Chronometer, they are generally pretty reasonably priced as well.

Nicolas Hayek had a soft spot for the Polaris as well http://moonphase.fr/omega-polaris-la-montre-favorite-de-nicolas-hayek/

What numbers are on the bracelet? Is it 1455/448? If so, new links are available, and are part #114DB1455.

Okay strike that - just realized yours is the all steel bracelet, so the link part is 114ST1455.

Links often pop up on eBay but be careful because there are several versions, the early ones (Ti only ?) came on springs and the later ones with the standard pin/collar setup.

@Archer - sorry for the (slight) OT but since you posted here do you see any information on the Omega intranet about model 368.0885, the Polaris Auto with 1109 (or 1120) ? I've come up pretty much empty handed. Thanks !
