Hi. I bought this watch yesterday in the local antique store in Ljubljana (Slovenia). Some of you probably never heard for us..hehe. I bought it..because I collect vintage Omega watches and I bought it because this model, I never seen it before. I think it's a rare piece. Can someone tell me please more about this watch? Maybe someone know how many pieces was produced? Regards from Slovenia, Teo.
For a start go to http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage/ and search for Polaris. My opinion is that they are an underrated model line. Lots of movement variations with the majority being quartz and a bewildering variety of sizes and dials/complications.
A Gerald Genta iconic design with an unique kind of case mixing gold and SS (or titanium). One of the four watches Nicolas Hayek usually worn on his wrists.
Hope you're reading French, a bit long to translate https://moonphase.fr/john-mcenroe-omega-seamaster-titane-titanium-polaris-dessine-par-gerald-genta/ https://moonphase.fr/omega-polaris-la-montre-favorite-de-nicolas-hayek/ Two sizes (+/- 32 mm and later 38mm) most of these Polaris were with quartz movement ... sorry for the monomaniacs but IMHO it's netherless a significant part of watch history ;-) For Gérald Genta other designs (Constellation, PP Nautilus, AP Royal Oak, UG Polerouter ...) very easy to google
