    Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum but from what I can tell you all really know your watches ;) I love it! I am hoping to get some input on the below watch.
I would like to get it for my fiance (who is a great watch lover!!! so of course, I have started learning more and more about them...) but I am not sure if it is genuine (I don't know how the market for pocket watch copies is...) The man selling it says it was bought in 1984, new. He doesn't have any paperwork for it...

    Thank you in advance!
    D.

Much older than 1984. If the tag is the one for the watch, everything is on it : caliber 38.5, ref MA 141, case serial number 9919846, which dates its from around 1940-1942. I can't read the number on the movement, it could help for a confirmation of the production years range.

8 million caliber serial with million case serial (to be checked, I used the tag ref number assuming that it is the one corresponding to the Watch) looks logical to me. Dkcrock, could you please give us the movement and case refs when you have the Watch? I also have a doubt on the golden hands, I think they should be black. Maybe a later replacement?

MA 141 is a correct reference from the 40's, but the case looks different (thinner beel on your Watch).... Here in the 1939 catalog :

and in the 1940 catalog :

The mechanism number is 8028874. You were correct about the number of the case - it is the number on the tag 9919846.
Oh I love your catalog references - the text underneath each watch is about the case? silver, gold plated, metal or iron..
The hands might have been replaced, the tip of the large hand is a bit curved... but then, they are all gold colored and I figured if they were going to change them, they would have made sure they're perfect? :D I am sure it has been polished and cleaned up and tightened - probably not the correct terminology so I apologize :)
    Hope this helps :)
