I have seen various ones on Ebay that are clearly not genuine; but did Omega ever make a rubber diver for the 42mm 1st Gen PO in Orange? The only part code I can find is 98000144 which is black. Is the Orange rubber diver a "fantasy" strap?

I know they do orange leather(98000147) and rubber (98000295) with a deployant(94521813), but I can I only find black for the diver.

Can anyone advise if they did make it and if so the part code?

    As far as I know, Omega has made 4 rubber straps for PO 2500 generation;
i.) 98000295 full orange, rounded profile, deployment clasp,
ii.) 98000292 black with orange stitching, rounded profile, deployment clasp,
iii.) 98000297 black with white stitching, rounded profile, deployment clasp,
iv.) 98000144 full black, squared profile, tang buckle.
Those all are parts numbers for 20mm straps, for sure there are similar staps for 45mm watches but but don't know respective parts numbers.
Enything else - orange or blue squared straps are aftermarket or fake.

Here are my 98000292 and 98000144 to visualize what I mean with the strap profile.

The strap in your OP is 98000144 , do not confuse it with 98000085 which also is black 20mm rubber, but this is a strap for GMT Diver 300M model.

Thank you so much. The orange ones I had seen had 98000144 on them so they were easy to tell as fake (as well as the price of them). I was hoping Omega made such a thing but maybe not.

I have asked my AD for a price on he 98000292 as I really like that, but have heard it can't go in the water as it has cardboard inside? Otherwise the rubber for the 8500 PO's is supposed to fit but sits a bit proud of the lugs.

Are the straps worth the money? I have mine on the bracelet and a NATO for it.

Also you are right about the pic. That was from their page for 144 but is the 085 as it has the smaller tang. I guess they use the same pic for both.

Older kevlar and coramide straps had a cardboard inside, this is a first time when I hear about the cardboard inside the rubber strap.
I've been swimming with 98000292 and no problems whatsoever.

Yes, 8500 rubber on 2500 case is not smooth with the lugs and the strap touches the bezel, tho you can still rotate the bezel.

For me, a correct Omega rubber on a correct Omega watch is the best fit what you can get, and a curve of the strap is very comfortable, so for me yes - they are worth the money.

Thank you. I have asked my AD for a price so will likely buy it. I know they are not cheap but I am willing to spend the money if they are worth it.

I went on a bit of a spending spree. The rubber with orange stitching is great. Not so keen on the rubber diver.

At least the deployant I can use with various watches/straps. The one that came with my speedy is 16mm so limited use. F7C18F80-A87C-4030-8CE8-14125DB880D0.jpeg
