I am new to vintage watches and found this little chap in a junk shop in Spain. Any advise on it would be appreciated. Thanks.
I will go back today and see if I can get the back off and get a few pics yes. Will ping them on this thread. Do you think it could be legit?
I also guess that what we find inside will inform what it's worth. Does the 175 seem reasonable if it is proper?
Just a hunch from some Google searches that returned similar looking pieces. What would you say it is Mark020?
Because it bears a reasonable (although not identical) similarity to watches issued to RAF pilots during and after WW2.
If it is an Omega case it is a very decent price. Even if it is isn't I am sure the innards will be attractive to collectors looking to complete a project.
All have Omega DNA, maybe the seconds hand is too long. I suspect a foreign assembled watch (where the movement was imported and cased with a locally produced item, quite normal for that era). Maybe a watch from South America that came back home to Spain?
If you like it, then it is fair. That's not the same as saying that you'd be able to recoup the cost when selling it at some point. As a non-Omega cased watch, it has little collector's value. As a parts watch I don't think the price is outrageous
Thanks ConElPueblo. Appreciate your honest feedback. Will take a trip to the store later on and see if I can't get a better price
Be aware that one of the case screws is snapped off - you will need some skills to remove the remaining rest out of the thread...
