i saw this 6 months ago at a pawn shop but they had a crazy price on it. Was passing through that town again and it was still there. Made them an offer and it is mine

Needs a band. Had an ugly incorrect bracelet on it. Also needs a correct crown. Dial needs a little help but we don't see these too often out here in West Texas.

I'm looking for advice and info. Pictures are not great.
    Serial number is 24436665
    Case back: 168.005

    Hi Donovan
Your Connie has had a bit if a hard life !
What was the crazy price and how much did you offer?

The watch looks correct - it even appears to have an original yellow gasket - although as you say it has a replacement crown, so it's been opened up at some point in its life
The new replacement crowns from Omega look very much like the one you have
The dial has seen better days and the case looks like it has been in a bit of a bundle
The movement (visually) looks to be in reasonable condition -no sign of the rotor rubbing which is a good start
the serial number places it at around '66/'67
Not sure what you intend for the watch but I'm not sure it's worth spending much money on unless you want a project
If you were hankering after a pie pan Connie and like the shabby chic look - then congratulations and welcome to the owners club
    - others might suggest it's only a movement parts watch -but hey you have a pie-pan!
if it's running I suspect you should just wear it and enjoy it
A service will set you back $2-300 (plus parts) - only you can decide if it's worth it but it will prolong its life
    Hope that helps
google Desmond's constellation collectors blog for info on Connies

Thanks for the comments. I paid $300. I knew that was probably still high due to the shape but I've not seen any sell for less than 500. They had it priced at $800
It seems to keep time and I'd guess was serviced at some point.

Even a fail that is less beat up would be good! Bonus- the serial number dates it to about my birth year.

Honestly, as banged up as that case is, a really nice dial wouldn't look right. I don't think it would add much value, either. But a great find nonetheless! My own gold capped 168.005 was a good find as well, paid around $400 for it at a place that buys up gold. They had gotten it in because of the solid gold bracelet.

strap and buckle options? I'm thinking a nice black leather but not super nice due to the worn look. These are 18mm lugs correct?

Not a bad score for 300 and if it really comes down to it you could just buy a better looking 168.005 that doesn't work on the cheap and switch the parts from this... although in my opinion this is far from unwearable and has a fair amount of character

    Hey!

Don't you be buying vintage Omega watches out from under me in any West Texas Pawn shops. Them's my huntin' grounds.

Nice find! Certainly wearable. Thanks for the nice photos of the find.

Would an Omega 8270 bracelet be appropriate for this year model watch?

A good goldsmith can restore that case by laser soldering the nicks, gouges and scrapes. Not sure of the cost I have a friend that filled in some nicks on a couple solid gold cases. When done properly you can not detect the repair.

Here is the strap I have chosen from Crown and Buckle. I think with a little time on the wrist this gray strap will wear and look great with the patina on the PiePan. It is a little more gray then I thought it might be looking at their website but I think it will be ok. Feels good to wear it! IMG_0066.JPG IMG_0069.JPG IMG_0068.JPG
