Hello and good Christmas. I got this Omega after my grandfather. Can anyone please share some info regarding the watch? Thanks from Norway.
I think the dial of the watch in this link has been repainted, the case is not correct and the movement is "not sure yet". Here is my 2254 with original dial, stepped case and 18 jewels movement ] I mean this one
To give you the answers you're looking for, we need more help from you. Start here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-omega-posting-guide.383/ And as we always tell people with flexi bracelets, get rid of it so that it doesn't continue to chew round gouges on the inside of the lugs.
Thanks for the answers so far. This was bought by my great grandfather during a whale hunt abroad in 1930/40 i think. I opened it, this is inside:
IMO, the dial and watch are correct. Here is the listing from the Omega Vintage Database. https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-other-omega-mi-2391 This reference seems to also have been made in gold plate with a steel back. Here is an identical specimen: https://www.stetzcowatches.com/product/omega-ref-2391-4-1947-cal-30t2-scpc-gc/ With “Non Magnetic” on the dial. Serial number is very close as well. Your watch needs a cleaning. There is gunk in the movement. Please do not run it until you’ve had it looked at by a qualified watchmaker. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
To speak frankly - I am always amazed how fast some people shout "redial" or "fake" when a watch is shown here... The watch of the OP is an all original fine example and bears even the correct original crown. After cleaning and servicing it will be a nice watch...
BS It is not only found on Cal 30 (-family) watches but also on earlier watches with cal. 26.5 - I have seen plenty of them
And these little "bowler hat" or "nipple" crowns are becoming very hard to find in original condition. I think that @Cfoyn will have a nice watch after a visit to a good watchmaker.
Lack of experience with the model, obviously. As others in this tread I've been reading multiple times that "non magnetic" should not be on the dial of any Omega, but now we know that is not the correct. Lesson learnt and will be more careful next time.
Thank you good people!! Then I will take the watch to a good watchmaker. Do anyone know the walue of the watch? Not seiling, but interesting to know..
