That was a helpful comparison of the basic strap vs Omega's. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for making the video, its nice to see these on video side by side. Its really hard to tell quality and fit on some of the ebay and online photos.

That's true--fortunately the generics are only between $11-$16 shipped. Even with the review, I'd say you really need to compare generic vs omega in person... the feel is VERY different, and hard to explain (coarse is accurate, but not the whole story). I'm still not sure whether the Omega natos are worth the price. After several months breaking in a generic nato, I've found it to be rather comfortable. The generics aren't as thick, which can actually be a good thing.

I had several cheap generic china natos, and bought the Omega one.
    I don't want/use the cheap ones anymore.

For a cheap watch it is expensive. For a 2-10k$ Omega watch, I don't think it is too much to spend 2-10% of the price for a strap.

At the end of the day the Omega is better but it is a lot of money for a nato.

Would I buy another Omega Nato????

Probably. Why not. I like owning Omega pieces. I'd only use them with Omega watches though.

    nice video, thanx for sharing!
i have some aftermarket nato straps but nothing compares to the quality of the omega nato. the only problem with the omega one its the price.
for $180 i can get 2 good quality leather straps.

    NICe video!!!

My thought: I think it's unfair asking that price for a piece of seatbelt! ;)

My seatbelt is comfortable, and has smooth surface and edges that don't irritate my neck at all. Follow me, if you want.

Now: my seatbelt is 3500mm long and 60mm width. So it is 210,000 mm"2. Ok?

    A Nato is 300x20 (or 21) mm; so it is 6,000 mm"2. Ok? Its price is $ 180; 180/6000 is a cost of $0,03 per mm"2.
    Than what's the price of my seat belt? $0,03 x 210,000 =::rimshot:: $ 6,300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And that's for only ONE of my seatbelt. Because my car has 5 seatbelt, they should cost something like ::rimshot::::rimshot:: $ 31,500!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! maybe when I bought my car I only paid my seatbelt, and get the rest of my car for free.

    Otherwise ..... I think that $ 180 is a theft for a strap.

    Even for a super-confortable one.

Even when we're talking in a forum of expensive and luxurious watches. Because I choose to pay for a watch, for a Brand, for a patent (and for the genius behind), for a caliber, for a service, for a certificate, for a history, for the status, for the marketing maybe (if it works good)!

But not for a piece of tissue made to be worn and replaced. And that's surely not made by a maître horloger.

And now, let's talk about leather straps and leather seats.... ::facepalm2::

So true. Which brings up another issue. Why is it I can buy a leather bag for my macbook for $200 but a leather watch strap is $100+

200 grams of stainless steel is ~1$, a bracelet is 800-1000$

So forget it, and keep buying the oem Omega strap, if you want good nato ;)

    (or wait for mine)

    I don't know.
I really hope they will be ready in 2-3 months, but anything can happen. (Last October I thought it would be ready for Febr. 2016... :( )

The most things are very close to ready.
(and now I have to write my thesis, and prepare for final exam)

Omega NATOs are a bargain. I have a couple of Omega watches a Speedy and a Seamaster. I have a black Nato (omega) for the speedy, IT IS CLASS, just ordered a RIO omega NATO (blue white set out like a running track with lanes numbered 1 though 8). I just think if you have a couple of watches worth around 3-4k each then the straps at 125 are an actual bargain. I just gotta wait for 4 weeks for the Rio nato but it is gonna make the seamaster pop...
