Is it common or not that there is no arrow on the dial but the numbers and arrow are there on the back of the case? The watch has no subsecond hand. Dial is black

Wow.........this is more rare I believe. I read a while back somewhere that Omega did an early run of this Military stye. If this is that of the early run in 1953........you may really have a keeper there. The back of the case #s look solid. ...........(IMO) wait for other opinions from members...........good luck! ::popcorn::

Case looks like a RAF53, don't know if the dial is original or what, Mike has a bit of knowledge on these though

Case looks original and dial clearly a refinish - incorrectly done for the period. Crown is a later replacement though hour and minute hands appear original but perhaps relumed. Hard to tell for sure with the seconds hand.

Sorry that I disagree with you,but the dial is(looks) original with aged patina to me. About the crown your correct. But how about the missing arrow on the dial? Ihave seen more than one in the last couple of years but never without the arrow.

No question the dial is redone. This article done by Zaf Basha years ago covers the basics and what the dials should look like.

I've been watching the RAF '53 very closely over the past few years and my own observation is that there are probably under 100 of the original TA watches around and under 40-50 of the Bienne TA versions. The FA version is rather easy to locate.

Could be an older redial, which might account for its patina

wow, that's really a nice example. Here's one I shot when visiting the Omega Museum in Bienne earlier this year.

New member with a FA in the collection, have to say how much I enjoy it.
Others feel that over the past six months or so prices just seem to go higher and higher ?
Would post an image but will have to reduce file size first.

Prices of vintage omegas have been going up and the omega RAF '53 is no exception to this trend. I haven't seen a single Bienne refurbished TA RAF '53 for sale for at least the past 2 years or so.

Only glad I purchased mine when I did, easy to prove to my other half that watch collecting is a good financial move ( sometimes )
