Quick question how does 1 safely remove the seconds cog wheel from a 30t2 sc
At a guess it’s just pressing on ? But doesn’t want to take guesses lol
stripping it down as something is up with the escape wheel I believe
Balance wheel is fine
And pallet rocks but the issue is after the pallet ie escape wheel is a tight 2nd / 3rd gear
When it was all together didn’t run but if gently pressure was applied to one of the gears the escape wheel would turn very slowly

Any ideas? THANKYOU

Obviously I know the escape wheel isn’t going to turn now just by rocking the balance wheel as there is no power / resistance on the gears but to just visibly check it for damage or debris

You are supposed to pull the wheel off.
There is a tool for this purpose: Presto Sweep Wheel Remover 5 Spoke.

Yea I didn’t think two thin head screwdrivers was a good idea haha sorry 🫣 “ joke”
I appreciate your reply Thankyou. think I may send it to get professionally serviced I’ll know it’s done correctly then. Thanks again mate I am quite confident up to this point with a 30t2 sc they are fairly easy but can obviously go very wrong if done incorrectly

You’d be amazed if you knew how many shops don’t have the subject sweep wheel remover! These removers come in two versions. One for removing a sweep wheel with an even number of spokes, and one for use on wheels with an odd number of spokes. These removers are pricey, but so are vintage watch parts on occasion. And sometimes, not even available! This tool is available on Amazon. I find the one for removal of a wheel with an odd number of spokes to be the most useful.

I appreciate that mate if I pluck up the courage I’d definitely look into it, I just know I’m probably not going to find anything and even with it all completely apart in bits i don’t have the knowledge or equipment to service ect lol. My mind is pointing towards dried up oils and it’s made the escape wheel tight . It’s an old military so I definitely don’t want to damage anything so I’ll let someone else do it properly with more knowledge

Reference number on this is "30638-3" for Bergeon. So you'll often see this type sold as "Type 3" on the knock-off-brand sites.

So I’ve gotten the movement up and running a good few weeks ago now and is keeping good time the bridge was dirty on the underside where the escape wheel causing drag through the jewel

I should point out it’s a military 6B 159

My next step is to find a second hand
I’ve found a user selling some and states : This hand was copied on an original piece to help collectors finish off projects. It is made in a Swiss watch hands workshop with the same specifications and measurements as the original.

They also are selling a look a look like crown
I’m curious what you guys think if this is a good idea or not or if anyone has used these parts to finish off projects this will be the last one I have
Ideally not as I’d like to keep it as much as original as I can but difficult due to parts being available I’ve already purchased another non working genuine 6B 159 for parts to finishing off yes another 6B 159 lol so this will be the 3rd if I can find something that works

The other two where just missing second hand and seconds pinion which I stole off a redial and a balance wheel for the other

Then my final issue would be the central part of the case due to it’s age and lightweight soft duralumin metal and hard life it’s had the lugs are completely worn and snapped the previous owner has also drilled and re positioned the fixed lug
Don’t really know what’s best to do I did contact a repair guy but they didn’t want to touch it because of the duralumin alloy
if anyone has any suggestions would be greatly appreciate

I did have thoughts about robbing the seconds hand off this redial and using the center part of the case but like I said I’d like to keep it as original as possible and don’t really want to destroy a some what nice watch

But would be cool to get the original case repaired or just some what safe to have a strap back on it

this crown has been changed is a lot more fitting for the style now

Looking forward to see what you guys think
