·After searching around the forums I couldn't find a very clear post with regards to exactly what is needed to add the micro adjustment clasp to a 2500 series Planet Ocean.
So here is my experience with it.
Details of watch:
- model number 2209.50.00 (this is the orange bezel but this will work on any stainless steel 42mm 2500 series PO)
- case number 168.1653 (as above)
- movement/caliber 2500C or 2500D
- stock bracelet 1580/952
Parts Required:
- 2 x pins 0128ST0166
- 4 x screws 0124ST3307
- 2 x clasp to bracelet end link 0118ST1589
- 1 x clasp. I went for 0117STZ001154, however 0117STZ001159 and 0117STZ004666 should also work.
You will need a total of 8 x screws and 4 x pins, but if you order the clasp to bracelet end links above from Omega they come with 2 x pins and 4 x screws which is why you don't need to order so many.
Clasp variations:
- 0117STZ001154 - 6 Micro Adjustments (the one I have).
- 0117STZ001159 - 6 Micro Adjustments and a divers extension.
- 0117STZ004666 - 3 Micro Adjustments (slightly shorter - might suit a smaller wrist).
Tools needed:
- 1.8mm jewelers screwdriver. Don't go too cheap with this.
- pin pusher. I have one like this: https://ebay.us/tIVGdp
- loctite 222 threadlocker
- cocktail stick or fine oiler
High level overview of fitting:
- Fit the new end links to the clasp using a tiny drop of loctite on the screws. Put a screw in one side, mate the two together and insert the pin, then insert the screw the other side.
- Use the pin pusher to remove the pins on the clasp of the old bracelet.
- Fit the new clasp assembly to the old bracelet.
If you are uncomfortable with that please just take it to a trusted watchmaker.
The clasp is wider than the original but makes the watch so much more wearable in my opinion. I also don't think it looks out of place. It is nowhere near as good as the Rolex Glidelock, but leagues about the stock clasp.
I also quickly test fitted it to my speedy bracelet that I have never even used and if you use the exact same list as above it will also work (you might have too many screws and pins but that's a minor thing). You will need the end links as the middle part of the clasp is wider on the speedy.
Details of the Speedy:
- model number 311.30.42.30.01.005 (hesalite crystal but sapphire should also work if bracelet is the same).
- case number unknown
- movement/caliber 1861
- stock bracelet STZ004194
If I were to do it again I would go for the one with the divers extension. I may do this again and get that clasp for my PO and use the one I have on the Speedy Pro.
And now some pictures 😀
