·I’ve been in the process of letting go my Rolex-watches and getting some unique Omega-watches. Don’t get me wrong: I still appreciate Rolex and will have one or two in my collection. I am sick of this Rolex shortage and the way it affects to everything: poor customer service, talking about the value and prices of the watches all the time etc. Too many black dialed Rolexes in the world allready.
For me to compere these two favourite brands of mine helps me to think what I really want, what actually sings to me.
I’ve had three versions of the Rolex Skydwellers, three versions of the Day Dates, two versions of the Datejusts—and I got bored to all of them. Nothing special, you can see those in the wild all the time. I think that the blue Skydweller was the most beautiful one IMO. But on the wrist after some time: too top heavy and uncomfortable to wear. And when you are wearing a certain Rolex, you are getting too much unwanted Rolex-attention... I started to think some alternatives.
Now finally I am coming to the point of this thread:
Omega Globemaster Annual calendar. I was about to buy the grey steel version 6 months ago, but decided to wait. A couple of days ago I tried the fg version, steel version and this steel&gold version that I just got. I fell in love rightaway. The colours of this watch are simply stunning. Sunburst grey with the pan pie dial is something you need to see yourself. Very hard to capture the beuty in photos. The 3D elements are so beautiful. Rosegold and grey are working so well together. And that Geneva observatory’s cupola.... I happen to love the months on the dial: there is a very poetic aura in this watch. Full of details, incredible movement and very comfortable to wear. Goes well with a suit or casual clothing. This is one of my favourite watches at the moment, living a strong honeymoon phase...
