    Hey guys,

I was offered to purchase an Omega Geneve ref. 131.019, simple, three handed with Breguet numerals. I found a few similar watches (links at the end) on Google but the font of the numerals is different from this one. Also, the crown does't seem to be correct for this model.

I would really like to know your opinion. Does the watch look legit or it is a repainted dial?
    I'll let the photos speak.

    Thanks,
    George

I'm not trying to test you, I was just wondering. I'm sure someone will be by with feedback. Personally, I hope it's not a redial because I like the way it looks.

These numerals are usually seen on the barrel case Genèves but I have seen that style of dial on a few round cased Genèves, mainly in Europe (Germany/Italy).

It doesn't scream re-dial to me, but could also be the dial from the other model, I think they also use a cal 601, just thinking out loud.

If the price is right then go for it.

The movement is 601. I posted a photo of it.

What Jim is hinting at is that since the other watches he's seen that sort of dial with also were cal. 601, it could be a transplanted dial from one of those references. It would have to be a similar movement, otherwise the dial feet (how the dial "disc" is mounted to the movement) wouldn't fit.

Does the absence of seconds markers mean anything? Kind of unusual not to have them with a sweeping seconds hand. Just my 2 cents.

My suspicion of a replacement dial may be ill found, the ones I was thinking of were Caliber 5** in 165.041 and 166.041s, so they may not be backwatd compatible with the Cal 601.

Lack of second or minute markers didn't seem to worry Omega

Well, the case matches with the other watches I found so even if the dial was transplanted would not be such a big deal, right? I mean I'm fine with it if the case is the correct one.
The dial itself is my concern: original or repainted?

Ah, that's interesting, where did you get that photo? Looks like a copy of an old catalog which I would like to find for my own reference. Never hurts to be informed.

Compare it to the pic of the 165.041 I posted. That should give you a pointer.

    I vote original.

If it had been an obscure reference from the fifties, only delivered to Manilla and only mentioned in a single ledger in the Omega archives alongside a blurry B/W photo, you'd have a better chance of getting an answer from people on here :D

As it is, not much effort has been made to look further into these rather common (and dare I say it - pedestrian) watches from the late sixties to mid seventies. That said, it looks fine to me.

Late to respond, but I have one of these Omegas (in Sweden) and the one you bought (?) looks identical. I know it’s legit mine came from a relative who got it as a gift in 1969 from the company he’d worked for since 1939. So it hasn’t been touched since then. Good buy!
