Hello, I am considering buying this watch online from a private seller. Do you think the price is fair and does the watch look good and authentic to you? What do you think of its condition?

These are all the available photos.
There is not much info given about the watch so I also plan to ask the seller where did they get the watch and so on.

Any feedback is appreciated, thank you!

Others may have a different view but although it’s probably an ‘honest’ watch it’s not, IMO, a bargain.

There are plenty of Geneves around so there are lots of options out there. Chrono24 is generally regarded as a more expensive option than eBay so it’s worth your checking what other Geneves are on offer.

The photos are poor but the dial looks marked in places. A man on a galloping horse might not notice but, in time, you will and so this isn’t a bargain.

The case and hands look okay but that’s a note not an issue.

The seller says it’s serviced but, unless he’s sharing the repairers invoice and photos, I’d take that with a small pinch of salt.

You’re right, again my opinion, to go for a stainless steel case rather than gold plated but, in your position, I’d look for an automatic. A 552 calibre without date or 556 with quick change date.

And I’d expect to buy it for €500/550

Yeah, the above is all about right. Regarding the service, unless it is a repairers invoice/photos from someone YOU trust, that adds no/little value.

The crown looks wrong to me, but I don't really have a good idea of what is correct. Also, that case back doesn't seem right to me, I'd expect this model to have a seamaster case back, not plain 'waterproof', but again, only going off of other pictures. The inside stamping is correct looking, so I don't have a good feel of when that should be.

650EUD is probably on the higher side, and the photos look like they are trying to hide something, but the dial looks original at least, and hands + markers match.

Much of what @ErichKeane posts is correct but, as the owner of a few Genéves, both the caseback and the crown look correct.

Since my earlier post, I’ve had a look on eBay and I think the dial and the price can both be bettered by what’s currently available.

I also agree with what @ErichKeane says about servicing the watch. The Genéve movements; 601, 613, 552, and 565 are comparatively straightforward to service and parts are pretty easy to source and in the UK where I am, I’d expect to pay around £150 to a reliable local watchmaker for a decent service.

All this thread about Genèves prompted me to strap on one of mine, a 166.041 with a cal 565 automatic movement.

If you are really certain it was serviced well, then I don’t think the price is crazy. It depends on how much you like it, and how patient/picky you are.

Sometimes branded as Geneve, IIRC.

Here is a thread with special dial versions:
