·Hello everybody,
since I’ve recently bought two 50s Constellations, I feel like I need to let go of one or two more of my cherished watches. This is sort of my go-fund-me campaign, and you get a beautiful watch in return. 😉
The watch in question is a ca. 1972 Omega Genève Automatic, ref. 166.0098 with a golden brushed dial:
The Watch
Omega 166.0098
Age: ca. 1972
Movement: automatic cal. 1481
Case: 20 micron gold-plated. Case back is stainless steel.
Dial: brushed, golden
Size: 35mm without crown
Crown: Omega
Plexi: Omega
Strap: Omega
Buckle: Omega
The Dial
The dial is in a stunning condition and has a vertically brushed structure, the gold tone ranges from very bright in the sunlight to a darker, deeper gold in the shade.
Condition
I’d say it’s in a very good condition, only very small scratches on the case, please refer to the pictures for details - they are not manipulated and part of the description. The most traces of time can be found on the case back in form of small scratches from opening, (but it is also in good shape, including the brushing in the center circle) and some wear on the crown.
Dial is close to perfect, can’t find any aging on it, the indices or the hands.
Technically, it runs great. A small movement of the watch is enough for it to start, movement is clean, date quick set works a treat. Regarding accuracy, this is the readout from the time grapher:
I have just picked it up again from my watchmaker yesterday, who checked it for functionality, installed a new gasket and put the case in an ultrasonic bath, so if you spot dirt on some of the pictures with the white background: They were taken before the cleaning. Please note that this was not a full service with a disassembly of the movement - the last one happened in 2017 and given how strong the watch is running I’d say it’s still good for a couple of years.
Can I actually trust that guy?
I’d like to think so. On this forum, I have 6 reviews so far (3 as a seller, 3 as a buyer):

I’m also happy to provide multiple positive feedback on another watch forum (all as a seller), as well as a verification through my eBay-account that has been standing for 18 years, with >1700 reviews, 100% positive. Please do ask.
Payment, Shipping & Returns
Payment is accepted via PayPal, bank transfer or cash in person. A coffee would be included in a personal transaction.
The watch is located in Germany, insured shipping (500€ of insurance value) is:
5€ within Germany
14€ within Europe
45€ to most parts of the non-European world
I do accept returns, announced within 48 hours of receiving the watch if I misrepresented it in any way.
The Price
For the watch as displayed, including the Omega-strap and correct buckle for the Genève, I’m asking
475€
net to me. If you like, I’ll also include the light brown strap you can see on the picture on the time grapher.
I’d prefer to not sell to dealers. Hope it’s legitimate to put it like this.
If there are any more questions or requests for further pictures, please do let me know.
And now, the pictures - please note that on the 2nd picture, you see reflections of clouds in the plexi, no damage to the dial.
