Omega Genève 1969 9k solid gold .601- good deal?

So I found this vintage omega on eBay and bought it for 430pounds (560usd) after some bargaining.

I know the Geneve is not the most valuable model and the engraving doesn't help its value either, but the fact that it is still in excellent condition despite being almost 50 years old and has the reliable 601 calibre movement should make it more valuable. The gold case is also made by Omega themselves in the same year, and not in England as many of them were in the 60s. According to the seller all parts are original.

Would love to get some expert opinion on it as I'm a newbie and this is my first vintage luxury watch. Thanks!!

I sold one of those, a 9k gold 131.25016 on here a few months ago. Yours is close in serial number to mine and also hallmarked for 1969 as mine was though has the stick indices dial, mine has Arabic numbers. With any vintage watch purchase you also need to consider the servicing cost which can add a further £150-250 to your outlay. If there is no proof of a recent service then there was no service. You probably did ok but it wasn’t a give away price if as is likely it hasn’t been serviced in a while.

It was sent for servicing last year by the seller! Thanks for the advice 😀 The one you had was beautiful, I saw one the other day sold for about the same price but I thought he stick indices looked more classic. But the black numbers look incredible though

What proof did he supply or did he just claim to be a ‘Reired Omega trained watchmaker’ or similar. I know I sound cynical but there are plenty of watches being advertised as having been serviced which are nothing of the sort.

Ah yes good point.. I shall ask him to send a picture or post the receipt w the watch..

Looks like a nice piece, and you didn't get ripped off. So that means you did better than 99% of newbies. Welcome to OF.
(I don't mind the engraving, but I'm not sure about the crown.)
