    Dear members,

I am proud to let you know that there will be a new book available soon (end of April):

30 mm Chronometer (only) - the "only" will be left out of course for obvious reasons...

    Lexer_Umschlag_Omega_1.jpg

This book is to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the famous calibre 30 and will show the evolution of this movement to the 30 mm chronometers and all the various references I came across during the decades of research.

    Here is the content:

    contents.jpg

A single page was not enough to give a detailed list of the content - therefore I provide you with some more information.

    The book will present:

31 different "civil" chronometer references and all the different dial variants that have been found (around 150!)
    7 military chronometer ref.
    6 cross-references
    5 prototypes
    observatory chronometers
several movement prototypes from the Omega Museum shown to the public for the first time

accessories: straps, buckles, boxes, warranty documents, certificates, advertisment, hang tags,...
The book will deal with every aspect of the topic and will be comparably comprehensive about 30 mm chronometers as moonwatch only is for the speedmaster.

I am going to offer a signed and numbered limited edition to members of OF which will be different from the common version.
This will require pre-order to see how many are interested to help me better plan the number of L.E.

Please send me either a PM (private message) or an email directly to: [email protected] to keep this thread slim...

    To give you an idea:
I have done research for many years and I was lucky to work closely with the team of the Omega Museum in order to confirm the watches I present.
Writing, photography and layouting took me nearly 4 years.

I will have to finance the production of the book myself (self-publishing) and I will do selling and distribution myself.
So every pre-order will help me...

The price of this heavy book (560 pages, more than 1000 images, about 3,5 kg weight) will be € 220 (or $ 250 at the current conversion rate). I know this is not cheap but hey, you can´t even buy a Speedy crown for this amount...
And if the book helps you to avoid a bad buy you will save more than this.

    kind regards

    Erich

We're stickying this and want to support this project by the way, Erich has been known as one of the most obsessive 30mm collectors for a very long time so getting a detailed book about this very large and diverse topic is something many of us are very much looking forward to.

You are required to get a permit before being allowed to buy a 30mm RG. Next meeting of the licensing board is in January , 2020 in München

Just sold a 30mm caliber 265 to a friend and was telling him a little about the lineage of the 30mm movements, chronometres et al. Great book!

I have known @mac_omega for 10 years now and I hardly ever say this but he is the foremost authority on 30mm Omegas and I have no doubt that this book is the definitive reference and last word.
