For sale is an early vintage Omega Constellation reference 2648. This reference is the FIRST Constellation model and features both the arrowhead and crosshair dial. This early dial also has the asymmetric Ms and crossed Ts.

The inside caseback has stamps both from Switzerland, where the case was made, and London where the watch was delivered. This watch is all original including the 9K gold buckle.

Case: Overall, the 18K yellow gold case is in great condition and appears unpolished. The gold assay mark on the 9 o’clock side is clearly visible. The inside of lugs are sharp with retained bezel contours. There are tiny superficial scratches, commensurate with age. These are best seen on the lugs in the photos. Case measures 34 mm without crown.

Crown: Signed original crown. This version of the crown is difficult to find and was is often replaced.

Caseback: Excellent condition snap down caseback with super sharp Observatory logo, which retains original embossing. Some light superficial scuffs, commensurate with age. Inside is marked with London, England import stamps from 1955.

Movement: Cal 354 bumper movement, which appears very clean. This watch was not serviced in my possession but has been running great. Automatic winding, manual winding, and time settling are crisp. If you intend on wearing it daily, a service is always recommended. 13.9 million movement dates the watch to late 1953/early early 1954. This matches up nicely with British import stamps from 1955.

Dial: Original unrestored arrowhead, crosshair dial in good condition. Asymmetric Ms and crossed Ts, as seen with early Constellations. The dial has developed patina, as seen in the high resolution photos.

    Hands: Original hands.

Buckle: Comes with MWF 9K gold buckle, produced in England and original to the watch. These buckles alone sell in the $200-300 range on eBay. The watch and buckle will come without a strap since the strap pictured is custom made and quite small. If a strap is required, we can discuss. I would like to sell the watch and buckle together, as they have stayed together all these years.

For this watch and buckle, I am asking $3000 which will include shipping in the USA. Happy to accept bank wire, Venmo, Paypal Friends and Family. International deals can be discussed and will ship at cost to buyer. TransferWise or bank wire works nicely for international deals.

Returns if watch is grossly misrepresented. I have had numerous transactions on this forum with reviews posted in the Seller Profile section.

Thanks for the likes and interest so far...watch is still available.

In answer to some questions: I have access to Parcel Pro, which can be very helpful for international shipping.

Haven't swung back to this one in a while!

First Constellation model, heavy 18K yellow gold case, and original buckle!

I'd rather not split the buckle and watch, but if you want head only I would be open to conversation at this point. $2700 for watch head only.

Need to move this along due to some incoming watches and an incoming baby in August :)

Big drop to $2600 including the uncommon MWF buckle. Shipping within the USA still included. The 2648 was the first Constellation reference, has a desirable bumper movement, and the case is heavy 18 kt gold. This dial configuration is quite early with asymmetric M's, crossed T's and a non-applied "Omega". Delivery to London makes this interesting as well.

A sunny photo to tempt you a little more:

Nice pics Mike! I can't even remember the last time I saw a 2648. Don't these usually go for a lot more?

Yeah, not a very common reference as this is the first Constellation reference. And yes, comparable listings online have been selling for quite a bit more and those didn't include the original buckle :)

    Bump!

Shame but Connie's just don't seem to do to well in this climate now, maybe wait? We both know this is a world class watch that deserves better.. Wait for omega to reissue it and they will come back in style!

They did, it's the Globemaster;) They need to release a true homage with the name Constellation.

I think there is a reason they choose to call it globemaster.. So they can do a true recreation pie pan! That was just kinda half hearted and I know the true homage is coming!

That would be awesome! For the time being, Omega is too busy milking the market with Speedmaster LE's :D
