I came across this Speedmaster Mark II cal. 861 with a racing dial that was serviced and almost completely refinished by the factory. The watch looks beautiful but at $2900, it seems a little high for a watch that has almost all new parts. I've found plenty in original state for about the same money. I thought that if the original parts came with it, it might be okay but the seller told me he sold them. Am I wrong that the price is a bit high or am I just a cheapskate?

That's way too high a price - and way too red. You can get an original one in the low 1k region. Even with a service it should be under 2k. Personally, I don't care for the replacement dials/hands. It looks strange on these watches.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I guess it's another case of wishful thinking.

They're not all strange, though some are redder than others.

Omega restored, mostly new parts including hands and dial.

I have spent way too much on this one, but it was one of my first and I really like it.

Yours looks fine, but unless the lighting is off, this is just not right (to me)

Edit - looks it was the lighting/editing. It looks better in another auction photo

Yeah, that's WAY red! Don't like that, but looks ok in the second shot.

Quite high expectations. I used to pay € 2K for a serviced MKII [IMG]
