I am looking to buy myself a milestone birth year vintage Omega and was curious as to what the community thought of this example of a 1968 uncommon De Ville ... Seems pricy at $1,495 and wanted to gauge the expert community .... Tjoughts? https://watchestobuy.com/shop/omega-deville-uncommon-automatic-from-1965/ Thanks .... Adam
Hey Adam, At 32.5mm and with a 711 inside this is going to be a small watch... even by the standards of 1968. Pricing seems very high, but then it's a dealer, so knock 30-50% off for what you might be able to find it for privately if you go hunt. Without an extract of the archives from Omega, or original paperwork there's no definitive proof that this watch was made in 1968 - I'd guess the dealer is basing the age off the serial number range - so if the date is very important to you, you may be better off hunting for a watch with an extract supplied. Cheers Chris
Thanks for the advice ... Yes the date is very important to me so I will pass on this one ... Cheers!!!
That looks nice and not one I have ever seen but as the Lizard says, rather small. I wasn't familiar with the 71X movement so looked it up on Ranfft, sounds interesting, thinnest Omega Auto movement ever made, 25mm dia too so pretty small. Probably really designed to be used in women's watches.
It was made in conjunction with Rayville, and was used for men's dress watches. Omega made a line of Constellation ultra-thins with it from the late 60's into the 70's.
@Adam_Hughes Please keep us updated on your search. I'm looking to find the same - a 1968 Seamaster with a white or silver dial - for my birth year too. Welcome to the 50 club.
