    Hi everyone

I’ve decided after wearing my speedmaster reduced for a few months to change to something a little bit more vintage

I found this omega Deville on eBay for £100 the seller knew next to nothing about the item and it had no papers or box and to be honest I was very sceptical about the whole thing

However I took the plunge and brought the item and put a new brown hirsch strap on and new omega buckle on

I got the caseback off and got the following reference number off the watch 111.0139

Which appears to be from 1977 and is a manual wind

So overall I’m happy to add this to my collection ..although I’m not sure I will gamble on eBay again

Nice catch! The aesthetics are so sober and elegant. Quite the antithesis of a Speedmaster! My only worry for you, from a very untrained eye, is that the movement looks rough. I hope a service is in the near future for this guy!

No I totally agree I’m not sure that caseback has been taken off since 1977 !

I’m going to take it to get a service as I think it’s in need of one

Looks a nice watch at that price.

I think the movement, the part inside the black ring, looks very nice but will almost definitely be in need of a service. Outside the black ring is the back of the dial.

Purely out of interest, the screw holding the crown wheel on where I've put the green dot has head marking to indicate that it unscrews backwards (as it were). If you think about what's happening when you wind the watch, it might make sense why only that one is a backward screw.

It’s keeping good time which I’m quite surprised about I think it would be a little off here and there but so far it’s pretty accurate

I do think it is in desperate need of a decent service , I’m not going to wear the watch that often but for the price that I picked it up for I’m more than happy with it

Although i was a little worried at first that I may have purchased a replica as the seller couldn’t really tell me anything about the watch and couldn’t provide any pictures of the movement which are usually big red flags for me, however I took a bit of a chance

For that price, it’s a reasonable gamble! Even once you add in the cost of that great, new strap and a thorough service, you’re still in the black! Congrats!
