·Hi OF. Been a while since I last posted since it's been a while since I last bought a new timepiece. However, I had the chance to buy this unique Omega De Ville Chronograph and the beautiful unique dial and quality movement really caught me. Pictures really don't do this dial justice as the sub dials are set lower with beautiful silver rings and a texture that sets it apart from the lacquered dial and Arabic numerals in vintage Omega fonts.
However, I also bought the watch for the movement, which is a Cal. 3202 with the Piguet 1285. I know this is almost exactly like the Cal .3313 which has mixed reactions on this board due to the reliability and teething issues of the 2 level Co-Axial. Been reading up a lot on this. I know there are upgrades done by Omega service that changes some parts from the 3313A/B to the 3313C. Based on my serial, and calling Omega service center, my watch never had any service done by them and is in fact the earlier 3202A. This watch was also made in 05/2007, which is before Omega may have made changes to the 3313 or 3202 of my watch to address the reliability and issues of the first Co-Axial versions. However, the warranty card for my watch says it was sold in 06/2016. So I guess it has been sitting an authorized dealer for 9 years before it was sold.
So curiosity got the better of me and I actually decided to open up the case back to see if any upgrades or service has been done to the watch and to take a look a the beautiful movement. And yes, I see some markings on the case back to see that some type of service was performed, which I guess is good and bad. Not Omega service, but at least the watch wasn't running on original oil from 2007. However, I took a look at the main plate, where Archer said to look to see what version of the movement I have, and I see 3202A. Why does it say "A" and how did Omega know to label different revisions to main plates if these were original 3313 and 3202 calibers. Also, a small inconsistency, but the 3202 is listed to have 33 jewels, since it doesn't have a date, but my movement says 37 jewels which similar to the 3313 with date. All this I guess boils down to whether or not I should send this to Omega Service to have the necessary services done to make the 3202C revisions with the added 3 level Co-axial. Or should I let this watch be for now, since it already had some type of service done and it runs amazing with +1 sec per day and chronograph working flawlessly. Thanks OF for your advice!
