    Hi,
I´ve just bought this nice Vintage Constellation Cal. 561 from the late 50´s. It has a red / black colored date, so far I´ve only seen this on the seamasters.
    Does anybody know more?

I'm more concerned about the dial than the datewheel to be honest

Certainly a redial/refinished. Sorry for the bad news bearer.
Unless you are certainly in love with that watch, I will suggest you to return it if you have option. There are many other better specimens for similar model.

Sorry for being a total Constellation Noob, but do you mean the dial has been replaced or "just" overhauled?

It means the base paint, original script, cross hairs and minute markers has been cleaned/erased. Then it is repainted to be as close as original. But there is always difference and lower in quality compare to the original.
People do this because the original dial has been degraded.

This particular redial is not a very good one, the fonts are pretty off

I´ve paid 825€ (I just loved the look of the watch). I am quite familar with the Speedmaster series and wanted to move over to the Constellation area but I think I sholud be more carefull :), but in fact it is again learning by mistake.
There is one here on the forum Omegaforums - Constellation what do the experts say?

    Regards
    Sven

Yes, the seller was really uncompliacted and kept the watch, also refunded the money.
So I am still looking for a nice PiePan Conny, thanks for your Ebay link but somehow I don´t like the "Meister" on the dial.

Actually having Meister (or Turler, Tiffany etc) is a good thing, since most redialer would not bother to copy this script. So most of them are original. I found it unique and interesting. Of course it is personal preference.

It is legit with correct parts. The case is a bit polished but still acceptable for my taste. I would not comment on the price, you could always negotiate.
