Good Day! I may need your opinion before I pull the trigger on this piece. I am potentially buying a Vintage constellation Pie Pan Dial with “Alcan” back case. Could you please education me about this watch and if it is worth buying for C$1800. May I know how much they go for and if it is highly collectible or rare. Thanks!

1. More pictures are needed, especially of the dial, movement and inside of the caseback.

2. Alcan gave out a lot of watches, most were higher end models that were originally produced with gold medallions, that could be replaced with aluminum Alcan branded ones. I own an Eterna Centenaire with the same medallion.

One of these watches was not sold on this forum a long time ago.

I have my father's Alcan watch, given to him in 1972 after 25 years service. It is a Constellation in a monocoque 168.015 case. I restored it about 2 years ago. He worked in Montreal and Kingston.

This is the dial and I don’t have the picture of the movement.

Nice! How much did you paid for the service?

I did the service myself, and I am retired, so I guess my time is free.

That’s awesome!
My father's "Alcan" Omega Constellation watch got me into the hobby, and the service I did was a real learning experience. I have since purchased many tools, more Omega watches and many parts. So it has not exactly been an inexpensive journey....

That medallion looks really cool, not something I've seen before personally but really well executed. It's a really lovely watch with nice sharp edges to the lugs too, your father clearly took very good care of it.

Overall it looks like a clean pie pan example. To my eye, everything looks original. I can’t comment on the case back though. The scratches on the crystal can be polished out. And the case looks unpolished, judging from the sharp dog leg lugs.

However, without a picture of the movement, I would not consider it a steal. If you can get down to around 80% of the price, then it would be more attractive.

Thank you! I appreciate it.
