Hi! everyone. My husband is in the process of -eventually- buying a watch he felt in love with. But I am unsure about the logo and the marking ... So I told him: " wait a minute! We are going to take some piece of advice from the experts!"If you could share your expertise, I would be very grateful! There is no money to spare with crooks. Ha! Ha! Thanks to all !

Do you have anymore photos, ones with the hands not partially obscuring the text and sharp enough to zoom in on without them pixelating would be very handy.

More pictures of the whole watch would be useful but if it is indeed from 1961 it is a redial.

The straight n in Constellation is the giveaway
( the spelling of chronometre and straight Ms are also issues)

Thank you @ Peemacgee. I feel something is wrong with this watch. The OMEGA logo looks suspicious in my opinion... and is the mention " officially certified" correct? I wonder...

I wonder, too. If only there were a way to find if this is the only example showing that verbiage.....hmm, stumped. Let us know if you get this figured out.

Fonts are all wrong. Genuine black dialed Constellations from this era are very scarce.

This is what you should be looking for.

Thank you @gatorcpa . I was pretty sure there was something wrong. Couldn't say what though, of course, because I'm not an expert, but... my little finger told me, haha!
@TexOmega I made my research... and found nothing like this. But one thing I have learnt from this forum, is that most of the time, when someone redial a watch, he can't do it just as it should be , but he tries to do it the nicest ...in his opinion, and it is usually too much... he can respect the well known adage " less is more"!

When these dials are refnished, the upright (logo) and markers are removed and if possible, reused. That is actually the only part of the dial refinish likely to be correct. But as identified, the "Constellation" script is incorrect. As for "Ofiicially Certified", that may or may not be true. Many of these were, but some were not.

My eyes might be wrong, but it looks to me like the OP watch has been "oficially [sic] certified", and that is not correct!

@TimeODanaos Yes I am certainly not an expert but I found it quite odd... and suspicious. I have looked at many Omega watches on this forum and on various other sites and I can't remember having seen this mentioned before.... Anyway, the watch has been sold, now, to a poor guy who has been duped! Not even sure the seller knew the dial.... was a redial!

I've said this before, and I think Ash has said likewise.

DO. NOT. BUY. A. BLACK. DIAL. 1940S. TO. 1970S. OMEGA. DRESS. WATCH. AND. EXPECT. IT. TO. BE. RIGHT. THAT. IS. SOME. NEXT. LEVEL. SHIT.

I wouldn't be feeling too sorry for the seller, frankly.

Hello and what part of the world are you in. Perhaps someone here can direct you to local watchmaker of high reput that you also get information from, and who can inspect a watch you are considering to buy. Many sellers offer return policies and stand behind their watches. There is an old saying, buy the seller, not the watch...meaning buy from a reputable dealer who stands behind what they sell and has sterling references from satisfied customers. Your husband is lucky to have you in on this with him.

About " officially certified" just found this on this forum:
https://omegaforums.net/threads/beautifull-18k-omega-constellation-168-010-11.147116/
Funny!

just for clarity @aggie
The majority of constellations have ‘officially certified’ on the dial.
It meant that they had been officially certified as chronometer rated.
However, there was a period ( approx 58/59-62/63) where Omega experimented with dropping that text from the dial.
Unfortunately, just to confuse matters further, all of the references that have the ‘missing text’ dials also can have the ‘full text’ dials dependent on when they were produced.
