Good afternoon from Europe , Today has arrived to my home an special and amazing omega constellation pie pan from the 60s ( I think ) . I've saw a little details in the dial that I didn't like at the beginning and now, when I've seen it , these lines aren't aligned with the indicators . Maybe the " constellation " letters are not a good reproduction of the genuine letter and I'm not sure if all in this watch ist genuine . I've asked directly to my seller ( he is a watcher ) and I could give you some description and details to check if it is genuine or not . Case number reference 168.005 Cal. 564 Movement Production number : 26.Xxxxxx And then, pics :
Should I through it? Should I give it back or could I re-dial it again? It's amazing and a love it , but these lines and the constellation letters....
If this helps at all, I noticed that the case-back also appears to be very polished. The edges and medallion have lost their sharpness and some of the stars are almost invisible.
Yeah, I guess it's almost unnecessary to say "bad", but in addition to the font issues, it's weird the way all the printing is totally shifted over to the right (and skewed a bit). Almost as if there was a stamp or pattern, and it just got horribly mis-aligned.
If you can, reverse the deal. Now that you know, every time you look at it, you will see the flaws amplified. There are better ones out there. Unless you paid US $ 800. Then it might be ok to work on it..... Maybe..... Kind regards. Achim
And half of the dial markers are not aligned correctly with the running minutes track send it back quickly
Good morning , I was thinking about the watch. I really really want it , I've paid less than 900€ but if I have to redial it ... Probably is better that I'll give it back . I'm wondering if this model with cal 564, this dial , color and case exists or if it's an Franken watch . The re-dial is another question... I know already that it has made too bad . Thank all of you for your answers.
Yes they came fitted with both the 561 and 564. The 564 superseded the 561 on the later models. The colour of your dial is one of the correct shades. For comparison here’s mine.
Oh wow. Yours is all original an genuine? So this dial, crown, case and movement are all for this model together and then it seems not like a Franken watch. It's only the " thing " of these unaligned lines ... What should I do? It was not too expensive, maybe could I " repair " these issues? What do you think?. Best regards
Just return the watch and pay a bit more for one with a genuine dial. You might like it now but eventually you'll want an original dial anyway, then you'll have to go through all the hassle of selling this one.
It all depends on what you want from your vintage watch. Most of us prize originality and condition above all else. Some are happy with redials but you can’t ‘repair‘ a redial by getting a better redial. let’s say you spend €300 on a new redial. You’ll then have €1200 in a watch worth perhaps €500-€600 if you like it, then keep it. But if you think it will bother you, then return it and as @cristos71 says, put the €1200 towards a watch in original condition
You guys are right , I love the watch and the re-dial is not a big problem to me , the rest of the watch is all genuine and it has revised . Maybe I'll keep it because I love exactly this model . I'll think about it during the weekend. Do you think that the watch in this aspect cost 500€? Best regards
The question is irrelevant as it is what you think the watch is value to you... If you are happy with it knowing all the above feedback received, then it is irrelevant what others think. If you think people around you won't noticed it is a redial and will believe you have an real expensive original constellation, and you are fine with that... No worries, your watch your satisfaction out of it.
