Just found this lovely Omega Constellation. According to the seller everything is original about it, but I would think that at least the crown is not original. As I am just a novice I would like to call on the (your) experts opinion! Any comments are highly appreciated. I am about the pay about 800 euros for this watch, does this seem right? One picture below and some others attached!
Hmmm, movement dates from 1963 per the charts, but sales documents clearly shows 1968 purchase. That's a long lag time, but not unheard of. The crown was likely replaced during the 1980 service by Omega. That's a correct crown for the later Ref. 168.005 Constellations and exactly what Omega would use today. I see nothing here that would ring my alarm bells. The price is reasonable, assuming the inside of the case and movement check out as correct. Even better if you get the original box in the deal. Good luck with the purchase, gatorcpa
Definitely get inside caseback and movement photos. I am noob too, so I bought a 61 recently, didn't have all the documents this one has. My suggestion is the excellent Constellation blog. http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1 Is the crown correct? Pat Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
Thanks for all the comments guys! I don't mind the crown too much, this can always easily be replaced with an original one. If you guys think the price is right I will go for it.
Accounting for service cost and crown, with papers. [emoji106] If you are getting box and original strap and buckle too. [emoji106] [emoji106] A real complete set minus the crown. Mine was won at an online auction so my price was higher due to who wanted it more. Ultimately pay a little over the odds for condition, and a little more for extras. It's a buy for me, n00b tax included. Over to the experts for honest opinions. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
