    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a little bit of verification on this watch. I believe it looks okay, but its been a couple years since I've studied up on vintage Connies.

The seller says it's all original, with a 564 movement - however, there is no movement or inner case back photos available.

    Thoughts?

    did the description say 168.005?
I would have probably expected "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" below chronometer for this reference -but I might be wrong (others will no doubt pitch in with the right answer)

heavily polished case -is this case correct? -or have the correct 'tell-tale' edges around the body just been polished away?
    patinated dial
wouldn't be high on my list to purchase

Yes, the description did say 168.005

I didn't pickup on the case polishing. Part of the case back is certainly over polished though.

if it's a genuine case, it's not just the case back that is polished - the lugs are heavily polished also -as is the body
but -whilst I know macro pictures pick up tiny details and make them look really bad - I've never seen poor casting on an Omega like that shown on the lug above the crown in the posted picture

the lugs and bezel should be sharp -something like this

I think that the cal. 564 was introduced after Omega went back to the "Officially Certified" language on the dial.

That, along with the mentioned condition issues would make this a pass.

No way to tell without pictures of insides. Another reason to look for something else.

Thank you for the help, I'll pass on this one then.

I'm specifically looking for a stainless steel, silver dial, onyx indices, payphone hands, pie-pan constellation.... But having little luck. Any clues as to the best places to hunt for them?

That's very enticing actually, and appears pretty original.

    Hi!

Having narrowed my own collecting to 168.005 cases with 561 movements (some rules, just so i won't buy every connie i see xD) I do feel like I have at least some experience in examining these even though im pretty new here.
I guess the original question is pretty much answered already but I just wanted to add:
    * I would expect all 168.005 dials to have the "officially certified" print on them. The lack of it makes me think it belongs to a 14xxx case. Other than that the dial looks good to me.
    * Examining the case it is either very over polished or as noted by Peemacgee, might even be a fake and poorly casted. The lack of chamfering on the side of the case also suggests it could be.

    /Magnus

Thank you for the kind words Magnus.

May I get the communities opinion on this? It looks good to me, albeit maybe a little polished. It appears as if is the best so far.

Looks pretty good from here but better pictures would be nice. The caseback medallion looks good, it is matte as it should be (compare to the first watch). The lugs look pretty sharp and not too polished. It also includes a 7 row BoR (my favorite) which is nice! If you ask for more pictures, try to get one of the markings on the clasp aswell as there are alot of fake beads of rice out there too. :)
