    Hi all

Im pretty new to this forum and just started collecting vintage waches

I have found this watch in a shop in my country, but I have a really hard time figuring out if this watch is a Franken or the real deal. It looks very authentic but I have read a lot of Desmond’s articles regarding constellations and I can’t make the date and the caliber 551 movement add together.
Read something about the 1 in the omega sign on the movement only is present on a pie pan and I this one isn’t a pie pan right?

It’s listed as a pie pan 167.005 caliber 551, 36mm, 24 jewels with original steel bracelet but I can’t make it fit when it’s a constellation with date (thought they were always caliber 561 168.xxx)

Would appreciate your thoughts about this watch and the authenticity of it.
The price at the guy is 950$.

Are there photos of the inside of the case back?

This is not a pie pan, not a 167.005, and should not be a 551 given the date. So either it’s a complete franken or they’re confusing this watch with another one.

You've probably already noticed this, but the upper right lug has some significant damage that is visible from the front. Minor damage also on the lower left lug.

On the bright side - if that is the movement shot from the watch then it’s going to be Christmas Day everyday. :)

The watch is in rough condition, bracelet appears to be trashed and it has an incorrect movement. Great buy for about $200.

I wouldn’t go that far. If it’s the franken that it seems, it isn’t worth a lot as a whole watch but there are a lot of useful parts there. Everything seems pretty nice aside from the end links.

That said, OP, don’t buy it for anywhere near that price. Or at all unless you’re looking for an expensive project.

    Not worth asking price.
