Hi all, I am new to vintage watches and was looking for some opinions on this constellation model.Case no. Is 167.005 the movement dates it to 1963.I can't seem to find any similar models to ref it against.Any input greatly welcome . Thank you.
Lovely watch but I'm afraid it is of limited value to a collector. The dial has been repainted and not particularly well. Most obvious is the O in Omega sitting on top of the A in automatic.
It's not only a poor redial, it's not correct. A 167.005 is a no date model that should have a caliber 551, but that has a date window which should make it a 168.005 so it's what we call a franken watch. What caliber is inside?
When there's nothing on cable TV, you pour a drink and go on the internet. When you pour a drink and go on the internet, you end up buzzed on eBay. When you end up buzzed on eBay, you make poor buying decisions. When you make poor buying decisions, you end up with a frankenwatch. Don't end up with a frankenwatch - get Direct TV.
You can tell how much I've had to drink by my posts per day. Posts 1-5 = normal couple of rums or few beers and checking out ebay Posts 5-10 = "havin a few" and probably messaging sellers Posts 10+ = better part of a bottle, answering every thread, begging mods to delete inappropriate posts and ebay activity drops off because can't remember passwords
Hi All, thank you for your replies, I have no experience with vintage watches but was thinking the same as uncle buck about the O in Omega over the A, wasn't sure if it was the angle of the photo and maybe a full on photo would have shown more but just didn't look right to me. The calibre is a 561 case number 167.005, have no idea how to match case to movement or dial type as so much confusing info on the net.
Try going to the Omega Vintage Database: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-omegas/vintage-watches-database Not perfect and a lot of models are still missing. Try typing "167.0005" in the search box. Then try "168.0005". Note that sometimes you will need an extra zero to the right of the decimal. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Carl, You are most welcome and feel free to ask anytime. We are happy to help sincere, cordial people interested in this fascinating hobby..
Yep, we do like to help - although sometimes we might not seem so cordial. Well, maybe that's just me who acts like a prick sometimes….
Buck, thank god after a bottle you cant remember your ebay password. Natures Alcohol induced safety net.... Dennis, surely you can think of other things to do when there's nowt on gogglebox? Not snowed recently?
Thank you all once again, punched in the case no. Both 167 & 168.0005 as gatorcpa said and ulackfocus was right about the dial having no calendar . Had a close shave here so very much appreciated .
I need to work on this a little. Maybe it should start with something about other internet watch websites, and the end should say "join Omega Forums".
