    Hi gang,

The rationalisation, and thinning down of my collection continues, with the sale of one of the first vintage watches that I bought, this reference ST198.003 1973 Omega Constellation f300hz.

I bought it in December 2012, and then sent it to Paul at Electric Watches in January 2015 when it stopped working, and a battery change wouldn't kick it into life.

He gave it a full service, which included:

    £45 full service + battery
    £6 ultrasonic case cleaning
£80 new stainless steel date wheel
    £5 new case back gasket
    £6 crystal polish
    £25 re-luming of main hands

I fitted a new Renata 344 yesterday morning, so the next owner shouldn't have to worry for 12-18 months about changing the battery.

Case is 35mm excluding crown, and lugs are 19mm.

Comes fitted with a 20mm Eulit Panama 2 piece strap, that I've worn two or three times since fitting.

Asking £350 net to me, including UK fully insured postage.

I ploughed in a good chunk more, but this was one of those early collection purchases, where you get a bit keen, and the numbers stop adding up quite quickly.... we've all been there right? ::facepalm1::

    Nice looking watch!
    Dial looks completely original.
It would make for a great daily wearer.

    Thanks UB.

The dial is doing what a lot of black dialed connies from the 60s and 70s do, and degrading in an interesting way.

One of my early posts here was asking if I should redial it... was talked out of such nonsense by the people who've since taught me lots about watches.

It's not perfect, but it is honest.

Good luck with the sale, it looks pretty good.
I notice you're unloading a few pieces. Is there a watch you're saving up for or the house ?

    Thanks David.

A few factors at play really:

1 - Rationalising what I have, down to the ones I wear, and want to keep.

2 - Freeing up some funds. I was made redundant in October, and want to make sure I have a buffer in place to cover the time it's taking to find the right job.

Also using it as an opportunity to move on various other bits sat on shelves unused, from old DSLRs and lenses, to my old wedding band, car stereo kit... all the stuff I don't need! :)

    But couldn't live without!

You are going to feel bad every time you see the new owner post this watch in "WRUW".

I'd rather see someone wearing and enjoying it, than it sitting in my watch box... ;)

Surprised this is still here. These are great watches. I'm almost tempted to scoop this up and having a black and silver dialed twin f300s. Someone buy this before I spend money I don't have!!!

Going to be keeping the strap off this one, and in its place I'll add an omega red travel pouch.

£350 net to me, watch head and omega red pouch, shipped in the U.K.
