OK, here I go again. I have been looking for an original Omega Constellation Pie Pan without a dial re-paint. I found another one on WUS http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/vi...-pie-pan-ref-168-005-*-cal-561-a-4131410.html but a couple things pop out at me. First is the MOY lineup is off center. Second is the 11 o'clock hour marker is cockeyed. It's missing the T letters on both sides of the "swiss made" but could that be because its not lumed? The lettering of the C on "officially" and "certified" appear to be more heavily inked and inconsistent with the other letters. Not sure about the crown being original either. I'm I being to critical or are these red flags?
Hello Sir [emoji137] You were so ' Supportive ' of me on Superdoc's thread that I thought I should repay back the kindness by showing you remarkable photographs of an original classic Constellation Pie Pan Ref 168.005 Cal 561 with genuine black onyx markers for comparison This Connie belongs to @Dablitzer and the all the photos are dedicated to Dear Dennis @ulackfocus[emoji173]
@Holy moley - could you live with a case that has polished to such an extent? The replaced crown isn't a major issue, but if that case lives up to your expectations of how one of these should look, then I'd ask the seller of a head-on picture that might better show if the dial/movement has been put in the case crooked. Look at how "Swiss made" seems to be partially hidden. After getting good pictures I'd then forget about the watch completely. Anyone who claim to use a watch maker who doesn't replace the bloody case back seal, is either an idiot or a lying bastard.
The dial looks fine, I'd be more concerned about the over polished case, especially the lugs and back. I always find it strange too when I see a watch that claims to have been just serviced yet still has a broken old case gasket in the back. edit: @ConElPueblo beat me to it!
I don't like it and as you say it looks a bit off, almost as though the dial is sitting slightly tilted in the case. When coupled with the wonky 11 'o clock marker and the over polished case all the more reason to just reject it and move on
My thoughts as well. If that watch indeed has been serviced, the guy who did it hasn't been able to install the movement or dial correctly and haven't changed a simple gasket
I was contacted recently by someone who had just bought another watch from this seller - it was a bit of a mess. Seller won't take it back....I would avoid this one.
+1 I have been looking for a similar example, but with crosshairs. The sharp edges on the lugs of this example are completely gone.
