Hello, i am based in Vienna, Austria and just started collecting Constellations (got 12 atm). Next, im trying to hunt down a "de Luxe" or "Grand Luxe" Version and i have following questions: 1) Whats the difference on the outside appearance between a "de Luxe" or "Grand Luxe"? 2) Are there more Versions than "de Luxe" or "Grand Luxe"? 3) Not all "de Luxe" or "Grand Luxe" are Pie Pan or? 4) How can u spot the difference beween a "de Luxe" or "Grand Luxe" over a "regular solid gold Constellation"? 5) Whats this? (sorry for bad pic) Thanks!
here we go with some pics of my collection (the 1rst row are the connies) sorry that the pics are mixed up and appear incongruent. i already sold some of these connies away to get new ones and the photos where made across full 2014...so i dont have all of these any more but therefore i got new ones (without pics YET)^^
Nice! Basically a De Luxe always has a solid gold dial in a solid gold case, pie pan or dome. A Grand Luxe always has a solid gold dial in a solid gold case with hooded lugs, pie pan or dome. The picture you showed is a De Luxe in what looks like could be rose gold. Could be a 505 or a 501 in a 2852/3 reference.
ok, great. now i have a much better understanding of that. i just googled "dome dial" and "hooded lugs" to get a feeling. so for the picture i posted first you checked if its a solid gold case + dial (de luxe) and after you checked if the lugs are hooded (non hooded) and you got to the result that its "just" a "de luxe". question: 1) can you always see from a picture if the dial is solid gold? Are there also gold-plated dials? 2) there are grand luxe constellations with a pie-pan dial which is sturctured with "lines" in between the sharkteeth. a) are they more valuable? b) do "de luxe" versions also come with these lined-dials?
well, i hope ill receive it tomorrow. i paid 1300 for the constellation with the spiderweb-patina and thought that 200 more wouldnt be that expensive for the "de luxe". dont knowing what you receive is somehow the beauty of life. :-P and its also funny... if you google "constellation grand luxe" you get a whole bunch of "de luxe" (non hooded) --> thats why i needed to ask because i didnt find any pattern i could build a conculsion on when google-ing
Hi, I also think its a redial and the movement looks not clean. Got pictures from a friend who was interested too. Do You have better pictures from dial and movement ? Greetings Dietmar
i will post them once i receive the watch. i already have the tracking number... just need to w8 (and w8 and w8^^) if its a redial and its shitty i got a guy who re-dials it for 100 euro again... so that its redialed but less shitty
photo taken this summer but happen to have mine on today! c. 1955 yellow gold Grand luxe hooded lugs, stepped pie pan and brick bracelet
its wonderful. i wish mine would have a stepped pie pan too these questions still need to be answered 1) can you always see from a picture if the dial is solid gold? Are there also gold-plated dials? 2) are there also "de luxe" constellations with a stepped pie-pan dial? 3) are stepped pie pan dials or non stepped pie pan dials more valueable, in general?
If its allowed I can post 2 pictures from the seller . @ ev3rclear: Or mail me your Mailadress. I think what you paid is a real good price for our EU region . Two weeks ago he wants 300 more. Dietmar
Why get it redialled again? I personally would return it and wait for the right one to pull the trigger on.
Not a Grand Luxe which AFAIK is a name first bequest to the top of the range hooded lug Constellation, I'd describe yours as a hooded lug chronometer, I've been doing a little searching since you first posted and came across a couple of photo's from Respectable Member @Privateday7 visit to the Omega Museum way back in 2013, maybe he remembers whether he also saw a platinum version as these two are white and yellow gold. The third picture is from my own visit to Bienne last year, a platinum and diamond Constellation Grand Luxe.
