I recently got an early Omega Connie circa ~ 1960 but I really got it for the bracelet, the watch itself was more or less an afterthought. Can someone assist me as to what reference it may be? I would normally just pop the caseback off but due to it having radium(twice as high reading as my ranchero) I would rather leave that in a professionals hands.

What reference is this? Is this dial original to the watch? The hands have radium but the dial does not appear to have lume which seems out of the ordinary. The end links are #4.

    Nice Calendar
    Ref is 2943 IIRC.
Pics aren’t good enough to tell but are you sure the black stuff in the indices isn’t lume?
Radium doesn’t usually go this dark but the base of the hour hand is also turning black.

(What is the world coming to when a nice Connie is bought for the bracelet ;))

Under UV hands glow very bright then fall off but nothing else glows. Under loope the indices appear to be gold/onyx.

In which case the hands will have been replaced.
Find some black insert replacements and you will solve 2 problems - Originality and the radiation.

There you got a bracelet that worth much more than the watch today. Nice catch.

The hour indices look to have lumes instead of onyx. That's where the high radium reading comes from. Looks dark (but not black as onyx) because it got burned by the radium. Just that little lumes on the hands can't read higher than a Ranchero dial full of radium.

I agree that this doesn't look like onyx to me -not black enough and the ends appear not sharp enough -hence my initial query.
But the OP has the watch in hand...

    2493 is a jumbo-sized Seamaster bumper ;)

I'd say it is a 2852... Great watch, fantastic bracelet!

I would be interested to know what reading you are getting?

    The 2852 doesn't have date. It's a 2943 (w. cal 504) like Pee said in his first reply :)

I think you may be correct, but I have never personally experienced any radium or tritium ect that doesn't glow at all while under UV but the reading is high.

    Quick cell phone shots.

If my other constellation is original I can look at the two together to compare indices. I got it a while back before I had any knowledge of vintage watches and just really liked the "look". Since then, I have caught the "watch bug" but unfortunately I have neglected her and haven't given her a real look over.

I meant 2943! Dyslexic apparently.. and can’t read given I missed @Peemacgee’s assessment.

Dibs on the pie pan dog leg Connie!

Another nice watch, but this one is more like having black painted markers, not Onyx.
