·Good evening everybody,
part three of my self-imposed path to refund recent arrivals: A mid-fifties arrowhead-dial Constellation with a freshly serviced bumper automatic.
The Watch
Omega Constellation
Reference: 2782
Movement: cal. 354 chronometer bumper automatic
Serial: 14919639
Year: 1955
Case: 34,5mm, stainless steel with solid gold medallion
Dial: original, silver-crème two-tone configuration with yellow gold furniture. Non-luminous, so no radium, and a cross hair as the icing on the cake.
Strap: Hand-made, dark brown horween leather, super comfortable, worn maybe a handful of times.
Condition
This is a sharp, original example in one of the most beautiful configurations out there.
Dial & Hands: Fully original dial, non-luminous. All the writing is fully present, as is the cross hair. The two-tone is clearly distinguishable and the gold furniture really pops in the sunlight. There’s some light bubbling of the clearcoat, as they so often do show, visibility of this changes depending on the angle the light falls onto it.
Case: Original 34,5mm stainless steel case, has seen polishing but is in pretty sharp condition. There are some deeper scratches at the underside of one of the lugs and some where it’s opened/on the caseback. Constellation and Waterproof writing on the caseback are there, but very much faded. Medallion shows all 8 stars, as it should.
Crown: Original Omega crown, correct fat decagonal with flat feet logo, as it should be.
Crystal: Might show some very minor scratches, but is in very good shape overall. It’s a generic replacement.
Movement: Original cal. 354, chronometer rated, as is correct for the reference. The movement has just been fully serviced by my watchmaker, as I had previously noted it started to lose time. Everything has been taken care of and this should now be good to go for some years. Accordingly, it winds, sets and runs beautifully. I am, of course, happy to provide a copy of the service receipt for the buyer (a copy as there are a couple other watches listed on it that I’ll keep).
Strap: As depicted, a dark brown, hand-made horween strap from another user of this very forum. It’s super soft and comfortable, with vintage crème contrast stitching at the top. It has plenty of life left in it.
